When you start collecting anything the rabbit hole soon appears. I tried the cut-throat razor but had to give it up and go directly to DE Razors. Thanks for the master shave session you make it look easy.
Great video dave and well said!! I like your attitude my friend! I believe in this short lifetime, finding “your calling” is one of the most important things one can do in order to find true happiness!! Thanks for sharing brother!!
Many many many years ago I had a Great Uncle that was a Barber. He had his own small shop here in town. Him and my Mom and Dad all wanted me to be a Barber, but I wanted to be a News paper Photographer. When my uncle passed away I inherited all of his barbering tools. His1950/60s clippers his hand clippers, straight razors, neck duster, combs, brushes and scissors. I became a News Photographer. But in my room at the house I have a small Barbershop space and over the mirror is a lighted sign that says ( UNCLE BILLS BARBERSHOP ) his cane is over the sign. I should have ben a Barber.
Glad I could provide you a talking point for todays shave. My previous comment wasn't meant to be an offensive one, though it may have been taken as such due to cultural differences. I shave out of necessity but also enjoyment of the process and it's for that reason I asked thinking maybe it was something you just enjoyed.
I'm 77 and I now enjoy shaving since I got back into wet shaving with a DE razor of which I have several. However, I wouldn't classify the "act" of shaving as a hobby no matter how one may enjoy it, and or find it relaxing. If one was to classify the actual act of shaving as a hobby then one might just as well classify the act of brushing ones teeth or taking a shower as a hobby. The "hobby", as it relates to shaving, would be more in the collection of razor's, brushes and other shaving accoutrements.
After watching your video about shavettes and finding out the one you like so much, that cost you 3 bills, now cost 4+ bills, I bought a Feather SS shavette. It is outstanding. I should have just bitten the bullet in the first place and spent the money for one instead of going theough 3 or 4 crappy under $25 shavettes.
My Beard is much the same as yours Dave, I could go two maybe three days because it is not Dark. But, I like to Shave every day with a Straight and there is always enough to take off. Some people do talk BS 😢💈👍
To me shaving is more than just a chore. I shave with an open comb variant aggressive shave sometimes for close to thirty minutes slowly getting everything off. Sometimes less. I have like more than 600 different shaving double blades now. It is a hobby for me trying the new blades and shaving soaps and I also make sure I have plenty of after shave splash after shave facial tonial as well alum as well balm. But I find it as a hobby too. I always make sure I have additional badger shaving brushes too in case one breaks and to make sure that it is all done and clean I also always make sure I have plenty of barbicide.
Please explain something for me. Witch hazel, shaving balm, after shave, colonge and powder. You use all of these together. How is that supposed to work.
@@jim6100 first off Jim thanks for watching well for me. As each process is different for each person. I think it completes everything because this is the same process. I use in the barbershop other than the alum. The witch hazel is wonderful for your skin. It’s also a good toner and it will knock down a little bit of the alcohol sting after shaving. Whether you use after shave balm or after shave is really up to you. The bomb is a more moisturizing type of finish and some people just prefer that and do not want the alcohol sting of an actual aftershave. Some people actually even use both Because the aftershave bomb milk gel or regular aftershave. All have different feelings on the skin. The bomb can be more nourishing and more protecting the EDT or cologne or de parfum is the final step to leave a fragrance with longevity on your skin. This is what the other people will smell because usually the wearer will go nose blind after a few minutes. The talk just finishes everything off. It will dull any oils on the skin and as your day goes on, it will absorb sweat and odor, and it just gives a nice finish. Hope that helps.
Great shave Dave . I shave every day as well with 3 passes Not gutsy enough yet for a straight razor 😂 My morning shave after my workout and shower is my Zen moment. I could go 3 days without shaving, but I look forward to it so much. Changing the topic...my Lord you had as many jobs as Colonel Sanders! 😂 Look up his employement history prior to his KFC fame😊
I hate shaving! Having to smell different great scents from artisans is such a bother. Trying different brushes that give me a massage is the worst. I hate collecting cool stones and straight razors. Having some time for myself and relaxing after a long day of work is the worst 🤣
@@BarberDave Hmm; must've been YT that deleted it. It still shows up in my history. Without going back into my history to recite it verbatim, all it said was "wow, nice razor. Love the scales on that thing. First razor of yours that I immediately thought 'I gotta get one'. I've a knife handle and a tobacco tamper made out of mammoth bone that looks very similar to the scales on that razor". Not sure why it would get deleted? Didn't post anything like a link (which probably would get deleted as spam) or anything untowards, unless the mention of the knife handle was enough to get it flagged??? Weird.
Nicely done, you make it look so easy💈💈

@@jason-tg1sk that is much appreciated and I think you are right. I apologize for any comments that I made.

Great shave and chat. Forget Shark week, “Troll Week” is not my favorite time of year. Bring them on, maybe we can help brighten their miserable days.
Oh and I shave because I love to do it. I look forward to the relaxing aspect of the hobby.

That razor is gorgeous!!
Love the breaking bad intro theme.

Wish I could find that tedalus for $400. Cheapest I've seen on secondary is $650.

Why did my comment get deleted? I wouldn't think complimenting the scales on the straight razor of the day was in any way offensive????????
