That kind of washing machine with 2 compartments - one for washing and one for drying - is called a twin tub. They are VERY old fashioned!!
I know hahaha it was so old hahahah I had never seen it in Japan haha

I wish some common words were written in kanji instead of hiragana but I understand why you don't do that though.
Some words are more commonly written in hiragana, depending on contexts.
