When it came time for route picks this year, I traded down back to my old route bus, a 2017MY Thomas C2, down from a 2019 C2. Had less miles than 819 (sitting at 64,000mi approximately), though it's been put through the wringer, with the engine changed last year. Still keeps running and earning its keep.
Nice switch to 819, I do like some of the features on the bus, the one thing I hate about it is the way it starts, but besides that I like everything about it, nice video thanks for sharing
It could be the block heater needing plugged in to warm up the starter. My truck had an issue like that. I plugged the block heater in and it started smoother.
Even some of the replacement starters do that. My route bus (2017MY Thomas C2) had the starter changed out within the last year, along with the engine, and it does the same thing.
I had a 22 for my route for 4 ish months and it didn’t have that issue, that bus was probably a later 22 model when they stopped using that bad starter but that’s just a guess.
@@arandomperson8 Would make sense. The data tag would show the month and year the bus was built. The 2023s taken on by the company I work for didn’t have that issue with the starter. So the weaker starter issue was confined to certain years. Makes me think if the IC CEs from similar years, with the 6.7L Cummins suffered the same thing.
@jessicasadiku2743 the VIN calls it a 2020, so that's what I go by. I think it's weird that they called it a 2020 given that it was built in January 2019, but that's not my decision to make.
That's really nice bus I expected the headlights 799 had for the 2020's
I drive a 2020 C2 as well. Built 3/2019. Love it, I’m in Charlotte Nc.

The block heater on C2's is underneath the front bumper on the driver's side.
Good luck and be safe ok
The engine fan on this probably sounds awesome on this bus.
We have those buses in my school district in Broward Co, I'm hope you can go there in the future to show off my bus fleet of course bro.

Wow Our 819 Is Also A 2020 Thomas C2 Operated By First Student Full LED Indiana Spec
Every 2020-2022 bus I’ve driven has had the same starter issue, mechanics say it’s due to a weaker starter for that year.

Looks like transmission issue?
@csxrailfan2 yeah, I think one of the original drivers was way too rough with it.
Corrosion on ground wires
I hated 2021 and 2022 thomas c2 always issues with the engine
