I know this was 3 years ago but I'm literally in the same spot. I just bought a vaquero and it was leaking coolant. Ended up finding the hose clamps were loose, thankfully! Surprisingly easy to remove the tank compared to sportbikes since taking the airbox off exposes everything!
Well, I was at this spot trying to remove this hose on my VN 2000 and found this. Thanks for the help! Now for a video to remove the gritty rust from it sitting to long.

Good video. I have a 2018 Vaquero and I figure that removing the tank is pretty close to the same procedure, the one question I have is how much fuel was in your tank or did you empty it before removing it. Thanx
I been needing to remove my tank but could not figure out how to remove the ring around the key, and that is where the sound went low to where I could barely hear you and your hand blocked what you did to remove it. Could you tell me in comment did you turn it , pry it off or what
Can you provide some details about that neat little panel that your MP3 Player is plugged into. If you bought it, where, or if you made it how, etc? Thankx
Christopher, I made that myself. I used a scanner and Visio to lay out the components I wanted. I have two heat controls, the far left button is my garage door opener and the switch to the right controls if the USB/Volt Meter is on with the Accessory switch or is on when the key is in the off position. It is very close; you will need to remove the bracket on the clutch side to get to the fuel disconnect (at lease I have to) and there are three hoses if I remember correctly. The "swelling" sound that you are hearing is it venting, about every Vulcan does it. Open the fuel cap and it goes away, as it warms up it will start to build pressure and start the weeping sound, 100% normal. Both my VN2000 and my Voyager did it. Main thing is if you take the tank off make sure and not pinch one of the hoses when the tank goes back on.

I'm about to do the spark plugs on a 2018 Vaquero. This video provided some good information.

Put rag around a screwdriver and work it up evenly and it will pop off. Sorry about the sound.

Is this removal same as 04 VN2000 mine has a sweeling sound from fuel tank maybe vent hose thanks
