Yeah no, ... it's not Steve Jobs of course, but just countering what would be the top comment otherwise, which is probably the most stupid TH-camr move to ever make in history. But hey, is Michael Brecker anything less than the Steve Jobs for the saxophone and EWI? 😁 Joking aside, this is such an incredible solo. The motivic development around that exotic scale that where this tune "Beirut" is based on, together with plenty of pop and jazz idiom is so engaging! Which other EWI solo's (Michael Brecker or others) deserve it to get transcribed? By the way, we have a new online school demystifying improvisation for ya. Thanks so much for transcribing this one!! One of my favourite solos/tune ! ❤ It's strange though that I really seem to hear Beirut in D instead of E... I remember practicing the vibe solo along the recording when I was a student, and I'm almost sure it was in D. Could you transcribe Brecker's take on "In a sentimental mood" from the same concert ? It is such an amazing version of the tune !!! Thanks for the great work !! 🙏🏻
Brecker was definitely part of my formative listening years. I didn't always get it, but I was always blown away. He was a true master of the instrument and we lost him way too soon. Thanks for transcribing and sharing this gem.
Just found this transcription! Great! After all this time many great improvisers have emerged but I don’t know if any have quite got the “juice” Brecker had. Developing any idea, making the outside sound inside, technical mastery, complex harmony, and dirty greasy soul. As advanced as he was his solos never ever failed to speak to me on a visceral instinctual level.
This version of Beirut is out of this World! Brecker what can I say? Simply the best!! I was talking about him with his brother Randy and his wife Ada years ago during dinner... Michael was from another planet guys! Steps Ahead here are smoking !! The groove is out of this world.
Oh, Beirut. I loved it. Thanks Jorre! BTW: they are transforming a rock progression (I -> VI -> VII 7) into something else by leaving out the I during the entire solo. That's what I call a held back climax...

Could you do michal urbaniak playing the lyricon? Always wanted to know how to play the Glass menagerie version of Vanessa
Wait, that wasn't Steve Jobs?
There was a joke there?🤔🧐🤷♂️
Not EWI specifically but Trains from Steps ahead in Tokyo. Would be awesome!

This is so awesomely 80’s, it hurts!
Great album, enormous band! Missing dear Mike Brecker every single day ❤
Awesome solo!!! Love Michael Brecker. RIP brother

I sure do miss him! Thanks for posting all these Brecker vids. Please keep them coming :)
Thank you for your work on this!! ⚡️🎷
Yow. Brecker beast mode - electrified and midi-fied!
The studio version gives me goosebumps everytime

Michael ❤️
Unglaublich gut! Danke!
Yeah but that groove Daryl Jones is laying down…
That's insane! Some of the grooviest stuff I know, massive sound and articulation.
@@SharpElevenMusic Big time
He is and has always been an embarrassing poseur!
This solo is an immeasurable display of beauty.
@sebastiancarballo7821 I just measured this “beautiful display”… it‘s 2 minutes 12 seconds long.
PS Find some standards.🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤡💩
Nice!!!! 🎷🎷
Ahh you got me to click, I knew it wasn't Steve, just curious how that title came to be, lol
Streets ahead ;)
The guy in Japan in the group T Square played one too, maybe before MB
01:20 B flat on a C Maj 7 chord. See how he push that through as blues? Tough to get away with. High note too. KB just lay back.
This is where the other dumbfuq’s pentatonic comment actually belongs.
Are we the ones living in the future or are they??? Absolutely crazy
Wow!!
EWI Go!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH oh my god that shit was hype wow ty for sharing
What happened to the title?
Tried something different as the video got way fewer views than this incredble performance deserved. But didn't fix it, so its back :)
Like Steve Jobs except kind and gentle.
iEWI - Play Different
Steve Jobs wished he was as cool as Brecker.
lol are you saying Mike Brecker looked like Jobs
You think rather like Bill Gates?
🤢
This is atrocious.🤦♂️🙄
Either you’re making a joke or all your taste is in your mouth.
