I'm a journalism student, aspiring news anchor, and a fan of old school journalism. I love those old-school promos selling Dan Rather and the news division. It's a shame they don't make them like that anymore.
Not only is it great to see this '83 "We've Got The Touch" promo in the clear, but we get some top-flight bonus footage: a "CBS Evening News" promo, a 1980 CBS Democratic National Convention opening, and a 1984 DNC closing. All that made this a five-star clip!
The Mississippi started in March 1983, which then was two seasons after The Waltons ended. It was picked for a full 1983-84 season order, but was off the air in March 1984.
At Least All We Need is the 1984 version of We've Got The Touch in full, and we need the 1980 CBS Looking Good Together promo 2 mins. in clear higher-quality.
I can only guess that Ralph Waite must have appeared in a short-lived series in the 1983-1984 season because the Waltons had already been cancelled 2 years by then.
Yeah, CBS' slogans for the following seasons: 83-84, 84-85, 85-86. Each season the animation, colors, look, & song changed but the slogan stayed the same. Starting for the 86-87 season, the slogan changed to "Share the Spirit,) then changed to "CBS Spirit, Oh Yes!" for 87-88.
at the end of this season One Day at A Time, and The Mississippi, got cancelled even Whiz Kids, Goodnight, Beantown and Cutter to Houston are short lived.
hard to believe that of all the new shows this season only Scarecrow and Mrs. King and After M*A*S*H survived though AfterM*A*S*H* ended in '85 I remember Snoopy Bugs Bunny and was Garfield on in '83 or was that specials that was advertised in this promo???!!!!!...I also remember NFL football the first time and Dan Rather miss him at CBS though when I watched news in the '80s and '90s it was NBC not CBS and that was when Tom Brokaw was at NBC...I also remember basketball on CBS the NBA and watching it on a cold winter Sunday
@stevieboy247 That's what I was gonna say! By the way...I just deleted the crappy low-quality version I've had for years (you know where I originally got it from).
in the Whiz Kids promo at 1:19 what breed of dog was that?????!!!...also I saw someone I like though I almost 48 that someone is Snoopy who else likes Snoopy?????!!!!

At :28, 1:03, and 1:40 during CBS "We Got the Touch" promo for 1983-1984 season, is this a movie clips from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope?
@nx01alpha
Thanks, but the 1984 promo will have to come from someone else since I do not have it.
