Never realized how much those lyrics mean, heard the original one a thousand times and didn't really care about the lyrics. This one make me tears. Ella rocks.
I think this is about style and preferences, people like different things in music. There's something that some Musicians prefer to do and it is making Bittersweet music, that means this type of songs like Believe from Cher, are songs with a happy tune and sad lyrics. Exist bittersweet songs like Supercut from Lorde, it's not living (if it's not with you) by The 1975, a lot of songs from the Scottish band CHVRCHES are bittersweet like The Mother We Share or Graffity for Example, the music of Kygo is bittersweet like It Ain't Me with Selena Gomez. I know the ironic fact is that these songs are Dance Music: Synth Pop, New Wave, EDM, Alternative Rock, etc. Cher makes some Dance stuff. If you check the songs I mentioned, you will notice what I'm saying. And I notice that the acoustic versions that are piano ballads like Ella Henderson makes here, transmit a lot of emotions, I enjoy dance electronic music as I can enjoy acoustic classical music.
Decades of music and Cher makes a song that was doomed by any ears just listening to the first 10 seconds. Then a "newbie" makes it one of the greatest songs i have ever heard. Ella is a diamond amongst the stars. Its not just her voice. Its the way she puts the lyrics across, it really hits you smack on. What really got to me was how that song could be that great but in the end she steps back fiddling her dress like a shy insecure girl. So lovely and down to earth. What a gifted young woman!
Believe was never a "doomed" sing. It was always good, and Cher has been one of the most successful singers and actresses of contemporary times, with a very good voice. Her career spanned more than 40 years for a reason. Yes, Ella's version is beautiful and she has a fantastic voice that transmits so much emotion....but that's no reason to bring Cher down, or invent cheap lies like "the song was doomed".
Kaylasa JaguarStar when did i refer to Cher's entire career? I just said like Gary barlow said Cher's version is one of the most annoying songs ever and for it to come from a legend only makes it worse
M. Colby Gary actually said it could be closer to his top 5 most annoying song. In the end of her performance in that show gary said he never knee the lyrics could be that powerful. For I guess it is just a matter or taste.
With all due respect to the other competitors including the winner on X Factor, I think Ella was in a different class. And I think long after the others have been forgotten she will still be right up there. Not only does she have an amazing voice, but also great presence on stage. And I really think the singing world is hers for the taking with the talent she possesses.
WOW!! She brought so much emotion to that song. I've always thought of that as a cheesy pop song, but she gave a far more powerful feel with that performance. That was beautiful!
What's interesting about this is that, while the original was one of the first auto-tune vocals, Ella Henderson achieves the same effects without the digital production.
Ella, the next "standard" for a female vocalist: Untouchable voice and that rare emotional expression that has us feel every single word and note. A Superstar! Just wait until her songs start spinning on radio stations. Album next month!
That is incredible. A great singer is rare, A true artist, like this; one who can interpret, emote, and sing great is even more rare. She's got them all in spades.
I dont understand why she lost at the survival, she has such a strong and powerfull voice. She brings the emotion of the song, I can feel the pain...she is my x factor winner!
Bee Maree Tell me about it. I think someone was cuttings onions or something. Search for the first time she sang it on X Factor. Slightly less polished and even more eye-watering because of it. This was only her second audition and she nailed it. Sherzy was crying like a baby too! :)
Love the echoing vibrato in her voice... very unusual and rare and it gives me goose-bumps!! :-) WOW... I have been waiting patiently for over 2 years for her debut album... Can't wait to hear the tracks on it
Adele has this attractive rustic voice and incredible control vocally. I asked a brilliant vocal coach to help me understand what exquisite unique qualities that Ella produces. Yes, Brad Sittloh an "Ella Quality" or "standard," I speculate will arise in the next half dozen years. There are two artists that I speculate will take over the U.S. market -- Ella and a young thirteen-year-old named, Jasmine Thompson, in the next ten years.
I wish we had a female singer like her in the U.S. I don't know what they are feeding you British over there, but it makes most of you phenomenal singers... Ella, Leona, Adele...
WOW, absolutely amazing, how a girl so young can take someone elses song and make it sound a 1000 times better, I have the X factor version and have played it 100's of times, this girl is a superstar
the way she feels the song and makes you feel the emotion.. god, her voice is angelic. i’m obsessed. and her version of this song is fucking phenomenal.
Check this out another version that will make you stop and just listen and Cher herself is in the audience and shed tears: th-cam.com/video/5PzQHZLiUPs/w-d-xo.html
Awesome. Breathtaking. Unique. Mature. Passionate. Depth. Composure. Incredible emotional control. On Ann Hathaway's level - the elite super league of singers.
Ella, I was living in the UK when I saw you on THE X FACTOR and I also saw this performance live! You made me believe in love again once and again I watch your audition clips and live performances... Thank you for sharing such great talent. Thank you
Bring's back so many memories for me. I had just come home from Hospital, after suffering a stroke. I felt like my world had collapsed. Spent a lot of time in Bed, due to a pressure sore. This song meant a lot. :)
When she 1st performed this on x factor i had goosebumps, iv never heard a song revamped and sounded so such better then the original, she is such an amazing singer along with Leona the best 2 female singers to come from x factor.

God this angel is in her very own class, at the very very top of the ladder and no one at all is anywhere near her. She will in time emulate Celine Dion who also was so far ahead of any other female singer in history!!!!
And since i have a million words about this and since nobody is interested in a million words I will only say this song is powerful and Ella's delivery is a gift to all of us Thank you Ella never let anyone stop you. Messages sent on the wings of love carried by a host of angels

@@suisaip Ella is good. However, Adam's version is beautiful - if flows better. He first sang it in 2009 and has perfected it. No gimmicks. Just beautiful. That's why he sang it at The 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors 2018 to Cher. He had a standing ovation. Beautiful.

Agreed. Such a powerful voice.

Yes, Ella's delivery of the song is much more impactful.

Laujtuamxyoojtseeb whenever someone sings the song live people always cry, I guess the lyrics really touch the heart

Cher is proud

I still can't believe she didn't win. Her version of that song is just phenomenal, and when she sang it on the X Factor... It was just complete bliss.
This is the best version of this song... I fell in love with ella's voice form her first audition.
Ellie Goulding, Ella Henderson and Adele - Britains most talented female singers of the 21th century
I agree! And Jessie J!
heathertrayner and Leona Lewis
Yes, Leona Lewis and Emeli Sande!!
Also Leona Lewis, Jessie J, Emeli Sande, and Little Mix.
Leona Lewis, Jessie J, Emeli Sande, Little Mix and Lily Allen.
I'd rather hear this than the Cher version a MILLION times over! Actually, I've been known to turn the original OFF, but I've got this on repeat!

PURE, NATURAL vocals STUNNING, POWERFUL! The best version of Believe. A Star was born!!!
This girl can sing, no really, she can really sing!. She has absolute control over her voice. Brilliant, absolutely Brilliant....
Her singing is not only transmitting sound, it is projecting feelings and emotions. I've never felt anything like this from other performers.
I think she resembles Adele!(: in the face, her voice, everything. She's great!!(;

Sheer talent that she's able to sing this song and infuse it with pure emotion... Excellent!
Ella Should have won the X Factor!! Amazing and beautiful xxx
She's only 19. WOW. Get with the right label and she could be bigger than anyone in the US currently. So talented.
Forget x factor Ella. You are a star. Can't wait for the album
Awesome , what a voice. And pretty damn cute to!
goosebumps.
Superb!!!So mesmerizing and sooo peaceful,i just fell prisoner by her magical vocals...
More often than not the best act doesn't win these talent shows. But true talent will out. And Ella is already on her way to becoming a superstar. The way she sings and the way she interprets the songs is top quality.
The energy she creates and transforms the lyrics to make so much meaning, I cant get enough of this version, what an amazing vibe.
You are simply the best
perfect there she is like to Adele. fantastic voice, amazing
She is just so good, one in a billion - WAO!! -
Her voice gives me shivers all down my back. She is amazing

Adam Lambert made it beautiful.

My favorite female vocalist. Just remember that no one can take your beautiful voice away from you, just share it with the world.
Can't believe how much soul she has for someone so young! She brings so much meaning to what was originally just a dance track.
Amazing Cover Song !!!
She is AMAZING!!!! I prefer her version of this song better than Cher's
+Elaine Quah no autotune!

I don't think it's possible NOT to! :D
To be fair, Cher's version is more for a dance club
Cher’s will always be better
She is literally the best singer I have ever heard.
The most beautiful voice I have heard in soooo long, possibly ever.
despite the quality of the recording, she still sounds awesome :-) makes me wonder if she can act, would be great in a movie.
it might be sounds cliche, but.. but.. but why would someone dislike this? i don't get it
Exactly. Why? Some people enjoy being negative, i guess. You can also just skip this, if you it's not your taste.
People who obviously don’t know pure beauty when they hear it
maybe that's for the low quality video . . i mean, for THIS kind of video, it SHOULD've been at least 720p, right ? hahaha
Haters gotta hate I guess!! Ignore them. She's great!
Buttertubsmarsh it’s jealousy plain and simple
so lovely to see how much her voice has improved since x factor and how much more confidence she has with it, she has always had raw talent but now she is a true professional! her voice is beautiful and this version of the song is so profound. well done ella!!
Every single tone of her voice is perfect! Shes a pure talent ❤
