@@srsherman7390 The AI in IL2 isn't terrible but it does behave predictably. Most noticeable with the fighters, although they were recently improved, they still have a limited repertoire of maneuvers they can pull off, leading to often ending up in the same turnfight again and again, before too long you can know almost exactly what the AI will try to do next nearly every time and they run out of surprises for you, that's why eventually most people just play multiplayer. This game is an actual flight simulator, warthunder is an arcade game, even warthunder's sim mode is very unrealistic in comparison to IL2's flight model which is based on actual physics.
If you want to fly planes that routinely pull maneuvers only possible for small scale RC planes, then play warthunder. If you want to experience the closest thing to actually flying these aircraft without actually flying them for real, then IL2 is second only to DCS in that field. I'm not sure what the C47s could have done in this situation, they aren't maneuverable aircraft and in real life their effective use required that air superiority was achieved and that ground AAA was minimal or suppressed by supporting air and ground operations.
Without support they are sitting ducks for ground AAA and enemy fighter planes and that's just what happened here. The C47s were doomed from the very beginning and no amount of skillful piloting could have saved them.
Having flown real planes before, warthunder's planes feel too light, they have no weight, and they can be thrown all over the place carelessly and with minimal consequence, it is difficult to stall anything relative to the real things, even interwar biplanes can handle like 5th gen fighter jets, it's just too silly and I could never get into it.
This was awesome man. This is by far the best anyone has made those C-47s look so far. Well done.
You should do a vid where bombers dogfight by broad siding each other with machine gun fire.

Dang dude this is probably the best video/plot line you've had yet. Really love the story line and could totally see a future series (like a fictional ww2 band of brothers sort of series) keep it up man!
Heck now that I think about it, with the now C-47 planes, you can do US Airborn cinematics. 😃

My grandfather worked as an engine fabricator at Taiwan during Nam'. They had a lot of cargo planes, including the C-46 and C-47.
I love these historical story driven videos a lot more than a plane just being rammed. If you could make like every second video one of these or all of like this I would love it. Make a video in this style but with an allied convoy being attacked, those convoys were quite huge.

@@Renzic oh seeing a ground convoy being pounded is awesome as well but I meant convoys at sea! Those had up to 50 ships in total. The famous convoys past Iceland but the most famous was operation pedestal made to help Malta.

The sad part is, if a c47 was hit and went down, the paratroopers often went with it even tho they had parachutes. This is because there was only one exit, and they were tethered to the plane and being tossed around by G-forces
Can you do even tighter formations with C-47 and flak it would be nice if you could do that!
