Its amazing how much rare hunter pets started and peaked with Loque'nahak for me, nothing has even come close in unique appearance, cool lore and sleek aesthetic
The WotLK Spirit Beasts all were on a whole different Level!
They were amazing!
But I love that they still add Hunterpets that are somewhat hard to find and not just because of it being a Hardcamped Raremob
@@GarroshTV For sure, I just wish a lot of them were entirely unique models like Loque, Cataclysm ones were nice but especially from MoP and WoD on just being reskins, even something like Gara just being a purple WoD wolf was icky

But sometimes they actually do it well, like with the Spirit Moose from Legion

I got Deth'Tilac about 4 years ago. Luckily, I was the only hunter in the zone when I tamed it. That was quite a chore, but nothing compared to getting Loque. He took me 2 years to finally tame. It wasn't so much his spawn spots and timer as it was all the other hunters wanting him too, and being on a high pop realm. I got a tip from a video at the tail end of 2 years of trying, which directed me to make an alt on a different realm and port to him when he found Loque. Still a chore, but worth it. GG on the vid

Luckily by now my server is pretty dead, so I don‘t have much competition!
When switching the Realm with a friend you can also do it with a low level character, using Chromietime, there you will find far less players and it‘s a good way to find highly camped Hunter Pets!
This helped me a lot I today just tamed Hexapos! Thanks man
For a bit of bonus info for those in search of the golden Treasurewhiskers(mouse), you can 'farm' the same digsites where these mice spawn for the pet. You really only have to wait 15 minutes approx, before you can reenter and sniff it out.
Interesting Choice of Pets. I wasn‘t aware that unlocking Mechagon is so much work if you start fresh, I thiught the Rocketchicken is easy to get. I got it back then and I love it
The Mist of Pandaria hunter pet challenges were fun. There are a few invisible ones and then there are the 3 porcupine kite challenges. Loads of fun for hunters.
Nice vid. I haven't' kept up with pets this xpack, nice to know this info. My stable is packed full of old rare pets (Grim totem spirit guide, Croc-O-Slime, special effect pets etc etc) but always looking to add more. :)
i had the Slime back in the days, then I wanted to tame something else, thinking I will get the slime again another day so I abandoned it
Next reset they patched it out :(

@@GarroshTV Oh that's rough! If there's one thing WoW has taught me "Don't get rid of anything". Just like I am glad I didn't get rid of my set armors and bows/staffs before transmog came out. They always seem to find a way to make you feel bad about getting rid of anything. :(
Good to know my rare pets are still rare lol I stopped playing in Shadowlands, so never got the skitters or treasure mouse, but I had the other 3. I loved the rare footprint mechanic in Pandaria. I tried to catch all of them. The hardest was actually the goat in Kunlai Summet becuase it had such weird pathing. Deth'tilac was my most epic catch though. We had two raid groups, one on Horde and one on Alliance helping and trying to keep greifers out, because back in Cata people would run in and try to get it to damage it's self enough so that the hunter wouldn't get it. I stil had the two crystals you get from killing it in my hunter's bank. But we had a time of it, had a shammy lust, and potions to make the tame go faster, as well as a caluclated number of people to get close enough to lower the health to the right amount. The spirit bird in Hyjal was also a pain in the but to catch, but looks pretty cool as well.

I have all of these pets except for Treasurewiskers (killed him because I'm not too interested and I need the rep) and I can absolutely confirm that Deth'tilac still holds the crown of most challenging tame to this day. Perhaps even worse now even. I did it without party sync I just took off all my gear and picked up the lowest lvl bow in the game and killed her first time, and second time was the right one. I actually didn't wait 8 hours, just 5 hours, though it can get longer. At least there's still Skarr and Karkin as compensation or bonus prizes!
The chicken was also quite the challenge to get as well. Not sure about the porcupine spirit beasts since I'm not interested but they're probably very challenging too nowadays.
Easiest way is the foam sword toy, makes you take it down to 1 hp then just freeze trap and tame.
@@bradmiles1984 Deth'tilac has a mechanic that one shots you when you're at melee range, so sadly nope.
@@thornhop You just run in with your pet and melee as your pet is being hit. Also the one shot is a cast you can melee and run out in the time of the cast.

Kinda cute, but maybe too cute and out of place in WoW, dunno if I'll change my mind later based on these models' animations or something...
But I will always prefer the old-school pets tbh. Wishing some families were available/allowed from the start (well, figure of speech, I even started when TBC hit so anything up to ~Cata counts as "the start" to me, and all these periods feel like a past life in a sense), and I could've also known the maggots would become untameable so that I would have bothered taming one, because I (like undead stuff in this game and I) think I remember me playing during that particular window of time :s
But I never really checked such details (I believe you needed to pay real attention and often, to know something like that) back in the day, nor I truly follow the news lately since I really only care about older stuff. Usually at least.
Well, the amount and variety of pets nowadays (visited petopia 3-4 times during this last year to dig up some new favs) is quite satisfying tho, so I'm good.
Just gotta decide which hunters of mine will fit each pet I like, and which less favorites of mine I shouldn't ignore on certain races - I bet I'll even regret picking the elves as my first 2 hunters, as very few pets truly suit those and I noticed that way too late, post Legion maybe, lol... I guess my first race change is coming, if I'll ever manage to choose between the 3 (horde) races I'm considering (atm, troll, pandaren and goblin; I know the troll is more traditional but I like the idea of the other 2 as well, for different reasons obviously, and I'll probably roll a new hunter of the barely rejected second option, on the same or another realm, and see if it feels more fun in the long run... assuming everything will be ok and I'll get to focus on these).
I swear, they need to loosen the exotic families a bit tho, for example I'd gladly steal a rhino/clefthoof from a BM hunter... The rest, they can keep, even the worms which are cool.
But come on, mammoths&elekks, snakes and wolves and boars and small mechanostriders, even... On top of the other nostalgic stuff. I couldn't even imagine asking for all these at once when I was requesting similar additions xD
p.s. hopefully I'll be excited for real when I play again and not too tired of the whole game again like another time before... I owe myself some WoW action&fun and forget about the negative stuff surrounding both the game and life in general lately... we all got to remember how to have fun (without ignoring the serious issues ofc, but... actually, nvm, I'm not gonna start commenting on these too, again, or I'll add 5 more paragraphs, meh... and to kinda say what I interrupted, no one wants to listen or change in reality, and I'm leaving it at that indeed :/ xD).

First of all, yeah my Transmog has improved a bit in the last year, I wanted to get away from the „Basic“ Garrosh Transmog every second Mag‘har is using and I think it looks really nice!
The Mouse has some cool animations, aswell as a cute bonus ability that lets it sleep for a few second.
Doesn‘t really do anything gameplaywise, just a cute bonus
I definetly agree with your take on older Pets, i really wished I could tame a Kodo in Classic, but at least so many are available nowadays.

I myself also have like 4 Hunters which I don‘t really play and basically only use them to collect pets 😅
I think they are a nice thing to farm besides Mounts and Transmogs!
Hope to have you back in the game at some point, but I know the feeling of just being burnt out of the Game.

(Lol yh, I'm obviously bored&kinda inspired enough to type too much again, it had been some time.)
oh I've sadly (in 70% of the cases anyway) taken maaany breaks for various reasons, both forced and for all the right reasons. I really miss certain things... Focused on pokemon a bit due to the store closure but I'll soon need a longer break from that too, can't finish what I've ignored for 7+ years in just 1, and RNG hates me everywhere, usually even when something goes well, lol (pokemon stats are a chore in general tbh, I wish all huge and neverending games would let us focus on their most fun parts more easily).
Mog tweaks, just as fleshing out a base set to build on, are always like solving some puzzle xD grats on improving/enriching such a classic look.
The flavor abilities of pets are always welcome. I wish many more could have the classic zZzzz over their heads, have actually thought of this before. I was a fan of Wyvern Sting due to that too, but don't tell anyone.
Yes, kodos too of course...! Love them. And since they're also mounts, I must say that, like I recently saw someone mention (in less polite words xD), the unarmored versions of mounts are better.
I plan to twink several races of hunters and rogues and other melee/physical DPS classes, and I'll probably stick to whatever chars end up luckier with gear I guess, since I ain't wasting much time and effort about that. It's most likely gonna be slow and lonely process anyway tho, I've known zero ppl who wanna twink, and the ones who do are bound to be more tryhards than I'll ever consider being, meh. We'll see tho...

Keep in mind theres actually a toy you can buy in Dragonflight that allows you to instantly TP to Kul'Tiras ( its some vendor behind a shop near where Wrathion and that other black dragon guy chill)
There is a ring you can get for doing the faction invasions and scenarios back in BfA that teleports you to the docks, just a short run to the portal room. I used that all the time as one of the fastest means to get to IF, for flying to Scholomance to farm the rare for the unlocking of Scholo and Naxx Vanilla transmog farming (still haven't had him spawn, sigh). Captain's Signet of Command (Commander's Signet of Battle, if Horde).

Deth was just as challenging back when it was relevant content. First, you needed to gather a LOT of allies to help get it's health down. Or, you needed to have a lot of friends in and out of the zone all the time letting you know when others of your faction were trying to tame, because back then faction-lock was a thing. Then, you needed to be the FIRST hunter (among the several dozen that had gathered at this point, as getting its heath down takes a WHILE, and anyone wandering the zone would inform any hunter friends they had that a tame attempt was underway.) to get the tame cast off AND hope that none of the tanks or other hunters decided to grief your tame attempt. And even if your faction was willing to play nice, that didn't stop the opposing faction from blowing all their taunt and DPS CDs to also try and grief your attempt. I may never use it, but I was so happy when I finally got it tamed and I will never release it.
Death was SOOO hard to get. I got lucky and a bunch of people helped me do it. I remember trying to tame and getting 1 hit by him, MANY times XD I never know what to pair him with so I find myself not using him a ton sadly.
As much as people hate on Cata. The Molten Front hunter pets that each had unique challenges gave me my fondest memories in WoW. The happiness that I experience when I finally got Deth was euphoric.
@@traposaurus8747 i've felt the same with all of the challenge or unique acquisition pets. Fenrir, Gara, Felbound Wolf; one of the reasons I main BM Hunter is all the unique experiences I have had and continue to get.
I remember it took me 3 tries ... the time we got it we had 2 raid groups, one on horde and alliance keeping people away to get it, and to help with the lowering her health. shammy lust plust haste pot and a lot of prayers.
I got Deth'tilac during Cata by kiting him back to the hill where the dailies are acquired. The guards attack him and get hit by his Deth Strike. After 8 guards, he hit the 20% requirement and has been in the lineup for that hunter ever since.
I have the robotchicken! I spent a lot of time catching two. I do really want hexapod also, but not necessarily a fan of the rest bc for every pet I tame I make a mog to go along lmao! You should include the pink mammoths!

I'm looking for a new class to play and am wondering if Hunter is a good choice at the moment and in general. How does it do in open world content, mythic + and raiding? How does it differ between it's specs? And how fun is the class to play? I heard that marksmanship hunter isn't doing so well for a ling time, is that true?

As far as I know Hunters arent at the best spot regarding pve but marksman is relatively good in pvp and so is survival
But I might not be the most reliable source on that :p

@garroshTV question: I just got back to wow since MoP and some BfA. However you mentioned i have to do the Mechagon intro quest? My Hunter is an alt, and in Dragonflight we have access to the Lucky Tortellum Charm that makes it easy for us to get to Mechagon. Will Oglethorpe just NOT spawn at all unless i do the questline. Like would Oglethorpe be phased out for me? and if hes phased out, then would i not be able to see the Robot chicken? Im thinking if i can get to Mechagon i just need to be here a day that hes here like you said but if the questline is preventing me from seeing both him and in turn, the chicken then im screwed. Do you know if thats the case like does picking up the daily make the Robot Chicken spawn?
Hey mate!
The Chicken spawns without picking up the quest, but Oglethorp will be phased out if you haven‘t done the intro questline.
However by sheer luck I found out that the chicken will still be running around on these days, despite you not being able to see oglethorp
So technically as long as you can go there you just have to be lucky to get the chicken.
If you still have a character that you don’t play as often with access to mechagon I would recommend parking this char there and check daily if Oglethorp is around.
When he is, come over with your hunter and search for the chicken :)

Not sure if this will work on the spider but I use the toy soft foam sword to not one shot things. It works most of the time.
That‘s a very risky play on the Spider!
You would take her down to 1hp, then she would use her Dethstrike ability and kill herself with that.
I definetly wouldn‘t recommend it!

There's a toy foam sword you can get that will take trivial enemies to low health and can't kill them. If you need to take an old enemy to low health you should look into getting that toy.
Thats true, however for Deth‘Tilac thats a really bad Idea.
Deth‘Tilac would instantly use the Onehit Ability as soon as you are in meele Range and oneshot you, and take herself out if she already is below 10%
Therefore I didn‘t want to mention this Toy :)

the #1 rarest hunter pet should be Blazeseeker, all the pets on your list r rare, but they r just normal pets compare to Blazeseeker....great video btw. Oh. didn't see you included the chicken, that and the hound should be both at top place....they r just pain in the Ars to tame.
Well Blazeseeker definetly can be annoying to get especiall with bad rng

Hunter went to Molten Front for 2 more reasons: the crab and the unique scorpion pet, which you can now also tame in the dream. Deth'tilac was not the only reason!
That may be true, but the other pets don‘t have an 8 hour spawntime and don‘t require you to stay there, and therefore don‘t help with the Spawntime of Deth‘tilac :)
@@GarroshTV Karkin, the crab which shares its' spawn timer, with Skarr the obsidian pather model which I had forgotten about, has a spawn timer of around 10 hours according to wowhead. So if the empty zone is powered down, would not their timer reset too?

Spawn time was pretty rare and every idiot in the region killed it if accidentally running into it. Not to speak of all the other hunters trying to get him...
Needed weeks until I finally got him.
He is still a favourite of mine.

He will use this dethstrike ability when yiu are in meele range, oneshotting you. And if he is below 10% hp he will also kill himself!

Tho, I don't see how it has truly blessed this channel so far. Sadly, very different stuff (afaik, extremely detrimental ones) get pushed and swallowed/"consumed" and I even saw an article about this issue being tackled by some higher-ups. Finally....!?
As I've said before, I miss the old TH-cam. Much less BS and more fun and interaction and even public stats (that mattered and led to interesting conclusions) about each video.

Sure they are still rare. Just like the Time Lost Proto Drake is a rare Mount.
Or the Tusks of Mannoroth are a rare transmog.
Perhaps they are not Special but they are definetly rare and a cosmetic upgrade for hunters
