This update was only for the TomTom GPS so that it will correctly handle the global GPS clock reset event on 6th April.
To update the R-Link software it is a very different procedure using a software tool downloaded from the Renault store. Then use the tool to check and update your car's SD card that contains all the software and apps. You can also add other Renault R-Link apps using the method.
Handle the SD card carefully and don't format it. Its keyed to the specific car you have.

Is that the same as ExFAT on Mac? Is the R-Link free? My brother had to pay for his in 2014.

Should be MS-DOS (FAT) to be safe, but both would probably work. R-Link is free on a new car but you have to pay for the app after the first few years. Although this update was purely for the Satnav part.

Nice car: I have a question- Can you ( or any of your neighbours ) actually get the car in the garage? If it goes in the garage can you get in or out of the car?

The legal minimum required for a garage in 2019 is based on the Austin A35! Hence the wee problem fitting many of the modern offerings in and being able to get out. Developers just do the minimum required, its the same for insulation etc

I got a zoe and pretty sure video on my channel of me parking it in garage and getting out of it, however depends on your garage size and dimensions, lucky for me my next car will self drive it self in the garage and self open the doors also

    It's only a 2G connection. OTA would've taken hours.

I noticed Renault recommend a 4 to 32 GB drive. I downloaded the tomtom update to the usb drive and had no problem updating both my Zoe and a friends, today. Both cars initially said 'no maps found' after the update. But after about another minute the maps had downloaded and all was back to normal. It pays to be patient at this point, as both cars appeared to have finished the download and the radio had started playing again, prior to the 'no maps found' message and subsequent installation of the maps. If there is anyone in South Devon that wants a hand with this, I'll be happy to help.

Renault are a massive corporation, so there is no excuse for half-arsed designs.
