    The Creep mode is just like driving an automatic car, both in reverse and forwards. I don't know if it is useful to do so but it might make adapting to an electric vehicle easier because that is what you are used to in an automatic vehicle

    • @thikboii5689
      @thikboii5689 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      it's useful when you want for example to park your car in a garage slowly, you let of the break pedal and it will slowly move, you press the break pedal it will stop. that means that you don't need to use both pedals to go slowly. this feature is also present in manual cars too, just put it in 1st.

    • @audigex
      @audigex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I had an automatic before my Tesla, but I prefer hold mode - you can creep super easily anyway because the throttle is so responsive, so you can easily creep at less than 1 mph if you want to. Creep is a hangover from old automatic gearboxes, honestly it isn’t needed anymore

    Automatic cars have creep mode both forward and reverse and once you’re used to it it is much easier to manoeuvre into and out of spaces just using the brake. I tried the e-pedal in my Leaf which is similar to the hold mode and it confused me in reverse! By the way, you’re supposed to use the right foot on the brake.

    When I got my Model 3 back in September 2019 'Hold' mode didn't actually exist! The only two choices were Creep and Roll. Hold mode was something that was added later in a software update. In Roll mode it will start to roll if you're stopped on a hill and you take your foot off the brake (forwards or backwards depending whether you're facing uphill or downhill). However, in both Creep and Roll mode if you press the brake pedal hard after you've come to a full stop then the 'H' will appear on the screen and the car will then hold in position if you release the brake pedal (kind of like applying the hand brake).

    On a regular automatic transmission car, the car will always creep forward or backward when you let go of the brake. I would use this mode for sure if I was letting somebody else drive my car, so they have what they're used to. My mom's Lexus hybrid (basically an overpowered under-mpg prius) does this same thing, it fake-creeps with the electric motor from a stop before the engine gets involved at all.

    Regenerative breaking works kind of like a bicycle switching its gears/speeds imagine this you have a wheel spinning very fast the chain will be spinning the same speed then you push the gear over to to a different gear that gear will have a motor a motor that can produce some energy of the speed of the chain yes the chain does loose some speed because of friction but you will make some energy and then it becomes way easier for the car to slow down and thats just a very simple explanation of how regenerative breaking works

    Basically any car "creeps" in reverse and going forward. For manuals you have to be in any gear and it will creep in the lowest speed it can do in that gear, in an automatic it would eventually shift down and just hover at about 4 mph and that speed is because in pedestrian zones, you are required to not go faster than walking speed, and that speed is basically walking speed. And yeah it works in reverse for petrol cars as well, as manuals would stall without the clutch and automatics, well idk, it would wear out the clutch probably

    The creep mode is emulating automatic transmission cars, there aren't many in Europe I think, but in the USA and Canada, over 90% of cars are automatic, you're meant to hold the brake pedal, not put the car in P mode. One thing I am always asked by any passengers I may have in the car when driving is: when do the brake lights come on when using regenerative braking? I have no idea so could you do a video that tries to answer that question please?

    After hold mode brings car to a complete stop Tesla makes a click sound, I've read it is normal as the brakes are engaged so you can take your foot off completely....

    my ioniq drives forward or back at 5 miles an hour without foot touching pedal.
    the slow speed back is good for tighter reverse driving in to parking spaces and gives you time to check all mirrors etc.
    in the setting i have i regen down to 5 miles then use brakes to stop

    There are electric mining trucks that fill up at the top of a mountain and then empty at the bottom. Because of the weight difference their regen braking covers the return journey and they never need charging!

    When you are running low on battery, can you use regenerative braking to extend few miles?

    • @GeckoGates
      @GeckoGates 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the tesla interface is really good at predicting your battery percentage if you input a destination so you shouldn't need a few extra miles. but if you did get in a situation where there's no fast chargers nearby and you need to charge fast, you can actually have someone pull your tesla with a tow line to charge the car while regenerative braking is on full from not touching the pedal.
