    They are in the green room, waiting to come on as guests, while waiting they can view the show on a screen, and know they are being filmed, so it is expected they react. It serves two purposes 1) allow people to see who has yet to come on the show, 2) add a level of entertainment to the show.

    Just to clarify, Jonathan Ross has a slight speech inpediment where he can't pronounce his r's. Also his accent is more Essex as he grew up in NE London in Leytonstone, which borders with Essex. The way he speaks is sometimes referred to as an 'Estuary' accent, describing how people sound living near the Thames estuary as the river leaves London along the Essex/Kent borders. Cockney is East London (typically spoken by Micky Flanagan).

    • @eshaibraheem4218

      He's not a Cockney. He has a speech impediment!

    • @TheOrlandoTrustfull
      @TheOrlandoTrustfull 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Micky Flanagan doesn't actually speak like that. I am a Cockney, nobody I know speaks like they are deaf. He is emphasising it as a gimmick.

    • @MarkmanOTW
      @MarkmanOTW 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @TheOrlandoTrustfull Of course he exaggerates it on stage for his stand up comedy. In normal speech he reverts to his normal, softer voice. For our American friends (watching these TH-cam reaction videos), it helps providing a simple explanation, especially as its unlikely they've heard Micky speaking 'normally'.

    Hey Joel. To answer your question, the people sitting on the couch are the other guests that will be on the show that night - they are in a kind of holding room backstage waiting to come out and be interviewed

    • @MelodyMan69
      @MelodyMan69 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The 'holding room' you mention is always called the GREEN ROOM. Not really sure why, its a stage term I think. It is sometimes mentioned in all the main Interview Programs like Parkinson, Jay Leno and others.

Also Stephen Fry and Romesh Ranganathan were also guests in the green room waiting to be called to stage!

    9:40 I love how these two are just trading passive aggressive comments. First the condescending comment about the British joke, then her put down about Americans not laughing either cos no one laughed at his pun, then him asking her to say red neck first.

    Before leaving a comment I always flip through previous comments to make sure I'm not just repeating what someone else has already said....ie, The Green Room.
    The only serious part I've seen him play is as a rival Barber in "Sweeney Todd" with Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter. He was brilliant & as it's a musical he had to sing in it. He's a strong character actor, maybe the British version of Jim Carrie.

    To be specific, Johnathan Ross is not Cockney.
    He was born in St Pancras, which while in London, is not within earshot of st Mary le-Bow church situated in The Strand London.
    That's the qualification for being a 'Cockney'.
    His family moved to Leytonstone in East London ( just east of the 2012 Olympic village to give to a reference) so he has an east end accent combined with a slight ( Daffy Duck) lisp.

    • @applegrovebard
      @applegrovebard 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      East End isn't cockney? Isn't the sound of Bow Bells thing a little too strict? I grew up in Leytonstone in the 50s and 60s, many living there had roots in the East End and had moved further east out of the tenements to have a nice terraced house with a little garden. Ross is a bit younger but still maybe grew up too early for his accent to be Estuary. I'd say his accent is East End or Cockney-ish depending on your definition.

    Not take his serious, most comedy is based on mocking serious problems, Cohens probably most serious rant can be heard in his movie "The Dictator", where Cohen in his dictator character (based on Gaddafi) gives a speech at the UN on the USA.
