      oh I make some bad rules booboos in this series. I do clear them up as the game goes on so its a good idea to watch them all through.

    I don’t think the movement rates will be much higher than 5th Fleet. TOG was misreading the counter on the US subs; 7 is the defence value, not the movement rate (which is 4).

    Are the US forces using leftover early war WWII torpedoes? I found it amusing that the Los Angeles class couldn't take on an old Soviet Oscar effectively! Love this game though even have the old SPI S &T Magazine version.

      I messed up the ASW rolls on parts of this turn and in turn 2. I catch it and fix it in turn 3 and US subs start to do better. Basically there is no defensive rolls for ASW warfare. So the US LA class sub ASW value of 9, with no defensive roll has a 2 in 3 chance of damaging the older Soviet diesel boats (Kilo, Tango, Whiskey and Juilietts) Victors, Echos, and Charlies and a 1 in 3 chance of damaging the Alphas and Oscars. Messed it up for both sides so I guess that kept things on an even keel. (see what I did there...'Even Keel'.....)

      Oddly enough, 'General Belgrano' was actually sunk by straight running torpedoes.

    Were you using Torp values to attack subs? Maybe 6th Fleet is different but, in 5th Fleet you use the ASW value to attack subs and Torp values to attack surface ships (No defense die roll for ASW either). It's been so long since I've played 6th Fleet I couldn't recall if they were different. Movement factors are much higher in 6th Fleet, I'm figuring that's because of scale (Indian Ocean is much bigger than the Med).

      I messed up on the first turn with some stuff. the ASW/torp thing and I messed up the movements as well. I do catch them in later videos and point out my mistakes

      Thanks! Im always looking for different music to have for my intros. I have a collection of about 10 rifts I use right now. Should try and look for some more. Always been a fan of hard hitting guitar rifts. Im an old school metal head. It shows some times!

    Are Strategic Detections of Subs automatic in Sixth Fleet? Do they require a RCN unit with an ASW value (IE anything but an "N")?

    • @Steelwhip2001
      @Steelwhip2001  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are auto in '6th Fleet'. An air unit on Recon for the Strategic Detection my place a single detection maker on a sub unit in its zone..or place 2 detection markers on surface fleets in its zone. Think they changed how that was done in the later games.

      @@roryross3878 The T16s out of Sevastopol is the ATK variations of the Topalov. They only have an SSM combat value and no Bombing value so they could not have hit Allied bases.

    Playing the “Fleet” games in solitaire is a complete waste of time. I had every game in the series and none of them provided a satisfying gaming experience.
