Something i find truly magical about surprise max ringing on heavy bells is that there is almost two different things happening You have bells 1 to 7 almost dancing through the back 5 and of course the pattern of the back 5 changes as do all the bells but duexto the size of the back they dominate the sound.
It was incredible to stand out in the streets of York and just hear this sound echo around the buildings, and to stand Infront of the tower too. Great privilege to have rung these the day before, even if only just to some rounds. Must return.
Rang a peal of Bristol at St Mary's in Sydney recently and those bells really demonstrate that too. The tone of the back bells contrasts with the rest in just the right way.
To me these areTHE BEST sounding peal in the world. I think they are probably the best bellsTaylors have ever produce, in always impressed by the sustain and drone of the tenors. Of course good bels are only as good as the tower accustics and one again York is a knockout. I think i coukd simply shut eys and listen to a whole peal and simply forget the world and time.
nice to hear them faster for a change !
Excellent ringing, especially the nice crisp rounds at the beginning. In fact a nice pace of striking throughout.
Nowt but a god awful row in my opinion
beautiful sound

Indeed it was. Recorded on the Sunday Morning. Sounded best from the streets, what an atmosphere it creates.
