People used to look up to India in the ancient times. Foreigners used to study in Nalanda university. I remember ancient Chinese called India “civilized” and “center of knowledge”. Scientists and mathematicians of the islamic golden age admired our work. Greeks and Romans also used to look up to us. Good old times. Anglo-Saxons and other Westerners are the reason that South Asians face discrimination worldwide. They ruined our image by portraying us as animal f*ckers, street sh*tters, unhygienic (India needs to work on hygiene, I admit, but man often it is over exaggerated), savages, r*pists, etc. West butchered our reputation. We think South Asians face discrimination because of skin color, but that is not the case. When you are brown, people think you are from South Asia, and South Asia has a bad image.

Firstly, I just genuinely wanted to say thank you, because I'm honestly sick of the misportrayal of India (and really most of the East) by the West. As an Indian who lives in US, I face this misportrayal whether it is from reading news, or talking to others nearly every day. Wrote this in a previous episode and just wanted to restate: As you mentioned, one of the reasons for the misportrayal (besides obvious western bias) is that we are often very critical of ourselves. I think this point cannot be stressed enough. The West has the same problems just as bad, or even worse, but they hide their problems, resorting to point out everything bad with the East instead of their own problems. For example, did you know that in many American cities, the local governments hire engineers to design benches and sidewalks to be so un comfortable that the poor/homeless won't stay there? Why don't they, instead of hiding their poverty, acknoledge it and spend the same money that was used on uncomfortable benches to actually help their poor?
Years of hard work, hundreds of sleepless nights and a lot of good intentions go in the making of each episode. Your words immediately reminded me of one sentence of Swami Vivekananda.... The funny thing is that, due to joblessness in western countries, people are making Reaction Videos about Indian Culture and are becoming famous due to large number of Indians watching them. First they were employed because of maligning Indians, now they are employed by praising Indians. Karma has it's own ways to come around.

Their apparently brainwashed minds won't let them truly appreciate its culture. For instance, going through the comments of any video on India in Details or even IID International, you can gauge the number of Indian and non-Indian viewers. Although the content of these channels is primarily aimed at brainwashed (sorry for using this cliched term repeatedly) common people of foreign countries. In fact, those reaction videos by foreigners are viewed by Indians only. So evidently, there's zero promotion of it. I can give dozens of other examples (youtube channels, basically) to show that outsiders (not all) are not interested, and If they aren't, in our much better heritage, why we still treat them with excessive degree of obsequiousness? It only depicts a sycophantic mindset which further confirms foreigner's beliefs.

Firstly, I just genuinely wanted to say thank you, because I'm honestly sick of the misportrayal of India (and really most of the East) by the West. As an Indian who lives in US, I face this misportrayal whether it is from reading news, or talking to others nearly every day.
Wrote this in a previous episode and just wanted to restate: As you mentioned, one of the reasons for the misportrayal (besides obvious western bias) is that we are often very critical of ourselves. I think this point cannot be stressed enough. The West has the same problems just as bad, or even worse, but they hide their problems, resorting to point out everything bad with the East instead of their own problems. For example, did you know that in many American cities, the local governments hire engineers to design benches and sidewalks to be so un comfortable that the poor/homeless won't stay there? Why don't they, instead of hiding their poverty, acknoledge it and spend the same money that was used on uncomfortable benches to actually help their poor?
You look Young and Foreign National but hold a Large amount Knowledge & Information about India. You are marvelous.

@Blip Yes to some extent. But I believe most of them are interested in money and fame only. They don't give a damn about the country. Their apparently brainwashed minds won't let them truly appreciate its culture. For instance, going through the comments of any video on India in Details or even IID International, you can gauge the number of Indian and non-Indian viewers. Although the content of these channels is primarily aimed at brainwashed (sorry for using this cliched term repeatedly) common people of foreign countries.
In fact, those reaction videos by foreigners are viewed by Indians only. So evidently, there's zero promotion of it.
I can give dozens of other examples (youtube channels, basically) to show that outsiders (not all) are not interested, and If they aren't, in our much better heritage, why we still treat them with excessive degree of obsequiousness? It only depicts a sycophantic mindset which further confirms foreigner's beliefs.
