0:35 "... What is #science all about?.. [0:49] What they do, they postulate at first: A #universe, a #cosmos, a #world, ... that is outside of oneself, independent of the #observer..." -- "Yes, that is how I studied, when I studied to become a #scientist..."
    3:37 // 3:47// 4:17 "... Is there #consciousness?" -- "... [4:21] Or: What do I distinguish, when I distinguish *consciousness*?"

The word 'cosmos' or an intelligible universe is family to the feminine word 'cosmetics'. Thus, pattern needn't be only patriarchal. Cosmology is akin to the idea of matrix, the mother, the source of creativity. The word 'text' is akin to, derives from 'texture', 'textile'.. words are sensuous things. They clothe us in patterns. Language, mother language, mirror neurons, synchronization.. rhythm of the heartbeat, the breathing, lingua, labia, the touch of the kiss, the text of love comes first

The words "science," "schism," and "schizophrenia" do not share the same etymological root, even though they may sound somewhat similar.
    1. "Science" derives from the Latin word "scientia," as previously mentioned, which means "knowledge" or "skill."
    2. "Schism" comes from the Greek word "skhismos," meaning "a cleft" or "a division." In this case, "schism" refers to a separation or division, often used in a religious or organizational context to describe a split within a group.
    3. "Schizophrenia" has its roots in Greek as well. "Schizo" means "split," and "phrenia" refers to the mind. "Schizophrenia" is a psychiatric term used to describe a mental disorder characterized by a split or fragmentation of thought processes and a disconnection from reality.
While these words may share a similarity in terms of how they sound, their etymological origins and meanings are distinct.

"mid-14c., "state or fact of knowing; what is known, knowledge (of something) acquired by study; information;" also "assurance of knowledge, certitude, certainty," from Old French science "knowledge, learning, application; corpus of human knowledge" (12c.), from Latin scientia "knowledge, a knowing; expertness," from sciens (genitive scientis) "intelligent, skilled," present participle of scire "to know."
The original notion in the Latin verb probably is "to separate one thing from another, to distinguish," or else "to incise." This is related to scindere "to cut, divide" (from PIE root *skei- "to cut, split;" source also of Greek skhizein "to split, rend, cleave," Gothic skaidan, Old English sceadan "to divide, separate")."

I'd like to read more of your post Keni Lynch, but on youtube, it doesn't allow me to read it fully, nor to reply to it.

Everyone looks at it differently of course. But what you are saying is not what he is saying. Maturana said that talking to each other is not manipulating, what I argued is a blunt misconception. Well, and you said that he wants to convey that we are able to repeat exactly what others said. Obviously this is not true, as is proven wrong by this exact conversation. We heard the same, understood it differently. The context matters as well in saying something and one cannot reproduce context 100%.

11:33 HVF: But the interesting thing is, I think the notion of systemics, "seeing things together", is of course much older than science is my feeling (indistinguishable).
    HM: I would suspect so.
HVF: But of course, at that time they didn't call it systemics. I think they called it Magic.
    HM: Magic.
    HVF: Magic.
    HM: Yes.
11:58 (Maturana looks to the camera smiling)
HVF: I think, because magic is the art of dealing with things you don't understand.
HM: Yes. By grasping coherences which allow you to deal with them even without understanding them.
HVF: Exactly, exactly. So I think the predecessor is systemics, alias "Magic".
HM: But at the same time, the most unknowable, in this times you are talking about, is the source, is the mother. In fact, is the matrix itself.
    HVF: Exactly, yah, yah yah.
HM: Because brings forth things, which you find yourself with them, without knowing how indeed they come about that you can say "well, is coming up from there, from the belly of the mother". But I'm mean, how.
HFV: Yeah, but how this motherness disappeared, how did it happen.

Maturana's distinction of language abilities between species is awful. Talking to each other is manipulating each other and others as well. So there is no argument to see a conceptual difference between chimpanzees hugging, screaming, lousing and so forth with each other and people talking and gesticulating. Maybe it would be better, to talk about it in levels of complexity of those actions.

speciesism. Not sure von Foerster is buying it.
