This is a quick review on Detech coils that I use on my Sovereign GT metal detector. I've been using Detech coils for years and with great success. I hope this helps you in your quest for treasure!

Hey Terry, Thanks for the great video and hunting tips. I've been using a garret all of my hunting years and am interested in a sovereign gt only to find out they have been discontinued. What would you recommend as a replacement for the sovereign gt? I'm looking for a salt water, beech machine. Thanks, Paul
Jon I have a lot of trouble with my arms , I have had 3 surgeries on the right and two on the left. That is why I have such a weird swing. I have used the big one so long and I just have had such good luck with it. Good luck out there. Terry
No permits are needed and you can detect all beaches from the low tide to the dunes legally. The only area off limits are the federal beaches and some state parks but most stat parks can be detected with permission. I detect the east coast beaches in the area they call the treasure coast. I have been working on a book and hope to have it out in the next couple weeks. Detecting the Treasure Coast. I had planned on another video but got tied up. I just found the oldest coin ever found on the Treasure Coast A Carlos & Juana 2 reale 1544 - 1548 and that has kept me going. I have been trying other detectors but the sovereign will always be my favorite Good Luck. Terry

Steve I have a AT Pro and love it. It will serve you well, when you're in the wet sand be sure to hunt parallel to the beach and that should take care of the ground balance issue. Good luck. Terry
Terry I’m upgrading and have opportunity to buy a sovereign GT or an equinox 600 I’m confused on what to do I only hunt beach and wet sand submersible etc please help ?
I'm sorry It's taken so long to get back to you. Both those detectors will serve you well but having said that the equinox is good up to 10 feet. I own both and recommend them both. Best of luck. Terry

Geary it works on most phones but not on others and we just haven't figured out what is causing it. The dialog doesn't come through on my phone but all the people I detect with get it. Thanks for the heads up. Terry
Terry, luv your informative videos, good stuff but please your gonna give this old man a heart attack swing'n that coil so please save me the hospital bills and keep that coil flush to the ground
You are absolutely right I believe that I have the worst swing out there. I have had 3 surgeries on that arm and the coil is to heavy if I don't have the motion. I make up for it by having my threshold way up and any change in the threshold I stop and scrub the coil, or if I really get into it I really slow down and keep the coil flush to the ground. I 'm trying to get better but I appreciate you telling me my faults in such a nice manner. Terry

This was so painful to watch. Firstly, in the initial few seconds of seeing your swing technique, it is very plain to see that you lift the coil considerably at the end of each swing; you're going up and down and not side to side parralel to the ground. Secondly, what settings did you have the Sovereign set to???? I have tested with musket balls and 8 reales and all sizes and cts of rings and on the standard coil, I get more depth. I did not bother to watch the video to the end. Not a good advert for SEF.
If you look at His videos you will see he had shoulder surgeries that's why he swings like this . He is the master at detecting! By far the best at the beach. His finds are spectacular and his wisdom and knowledge you can learn a lot. Some day I hope to find a reale. Love ❤️!

Minelab Equinox is what most people have upgraded to from the Sovereign.

No permits are needed and you can detect all beaches from the low tide to the dunes legally. David a guy down at Sebastian inlet used to make them. Mine is really heavy but I'm so used to it that I hate to change.
