Northern Michigan is one of those places that's so beautiful it's almost boring! Oh, more pretty trees, more pretty lake, more cute small towns. Ho hum. But I'm thinking, like so many of your viewers, 'Gosh, I wish I was there now!'

Beautiful area. As We cross the UP We'd stop at the many roadside picnic areas and burgers or steaks. One evening at dusk My windshield went Black. I stopped. The window had complete covering of Fish flies. my wife tried to wash them off but they just smeared. I used a whisk broom on My side of the windshield and screen over radiator. It worked fine. Also we had to walk into the second largest water falls. The heat had killed off the deer flies. They were like a velvet covering on the blacktop road into the falls. The water pour brown from the ore deposits.

Sorry the van got clobbered with a Rock. I am sure it was more than that. Window missing is a big deal, besides that being your living area its also a layer of protection for your stuff. 14 days in a hotel is a big expense for sure. What a story you will have to tell. Good luck Russ with a quick repair.

  • @gewamser

REALLY wonderful job Russ! Top notch. While watching this, I am reminded that the winters up here are extremely harsh. You know this, but after the horrendous winter the west suffered up in the mountains last year, in the UP and parts of WI. we get that every year. Some ski resorts literally have a second story main entrance for when the snow is deep. The people who live up there year round are hardy beyond belief. They are on their own, and must have backup systems for everything! This is, kinda like the frontier, but is often forgot about by the rest of the country. Thanks for coming here.

Russ, by the way since you're in Michigan you may want to checkout Meijer for groceries they're a superstore like Walmart but have better produce. Some also have gas stations
They're headquartered out of Grand Rapids. Also, you may want to try a pasty, it's a hand held pastry that the miners from Cornwall brought to Michigan when they worked in the mines in the UP.

With the Great Lakes being so dominant around Michigan and neighboring states, I have never stopped to think that there may be snow skiing too. Duh. What is interesting to me is it seems that waterfront land on Lake Superior can be owned by private citizens and that's awesome. You usually find so much commercial clutter.

Hey Russ! Love your videos. My partner and I are constantly trying to figure out how you get such good audio quality for your voice. We’ve gone from “he must overdub while editing” to “no look, he’s wearing a mic… wait, those are sunglasses”. But then we heard you ask a lady in that museum a question and the audio changed a lot as it was camera audio. But then we were debating if your actually walking through the museums talking for the video. So what’s your secret? How do you do it?
