  • I recently purchased the new Aolithium 4S Lifepo4 battery for a bargain price. In this video I go over the battery features, its App and carry out a capacity test.
    aolithium.com/?ref=dcguy is my affiliate link if you want to buy this or other aolithium products. I purchased this battery using proceeds from my own pocket, commissions and from those kind enough to show support by buying me a coffee at www.buymeacoffee.com/DCGUY
    While my capacity test fell short by 3Ah, i believe this will recover once i have cycled the battery, hence the 13.35 volt start voltage.

    Good review. I bought two of these batteries when they were on sale at a great price during a Black Friday sale. I'm very pleased with the overall quality and the Bluetooth connectivity through the JBD BMS. One thing I found on one of my batteries, which may also be affecting the results of your capacity test, is that the cells were not top balanced very well and I had to charge them at14 volts for quite a while and cycle them to get them in balance. Once balanced they have performed very well. Unfortunately these batteries are no longer in stock in the US.

      Thanks for watching and taking time to comment, yes I had the same issue but after a few cycles they appear to be balancing much better.

    Thanks for your informative test.
    I already use 4 of these batteries in a 48 volt configuration - works perfectly. There were also special offers here in Germany, particularly cheap ones on eBay. In November I was able to purchase two of the aolithium 51.2 volt batteries incredibly cheaply - to complement my 48 volt system.

    You really should use the four wire measurement so that your voltage drop isn't going to cause a problem. I don't know if you went to BMS shut down or set a cut off voltage. If you set a cutoff voltage excessive voltage drop could cause your amp hours to come up short. Your watt hours will be off if you aren't running a 4 wire measurement.

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. The DL24 was set to allow the BMS to cut power, which it did. The gauge of copper cable and the short run in my own opinion would not have much impact on results. I initially charged with a basic charger, hence the lower start voltage and as such i am sure it will deliver capacity next time around.

      @@DCGUY Yeah I noticed shortly after leaving the comment that you had the voltage cutoff turned off. Sorry for not watching the entire video and then leaving a comment.
      Not sure what you mean by basic charger...lithium charging is as basic as it gets. Constant Current, Constant Voltage....nothing more, nothing less...well except cutting the charge off when you hit 0.05C (although that is just a recommendation, some people don't follow that to a T).
      Your lower start voltage is likely a result of the battery not being balanced. Wish you would have shown what the voltage was when you hit the high voltage cutoff because we are only seeing the resting voltage by the time you hook up the capacity tester.
      Voltage out of the box at 12.96V is a tad low but nothing crazy.
      I have the "upgraded" 600W 40A DL24...the DL24MP version. Not sure I'd call it an upgrade because the heat sinks on your version are far superior BUT the 4 mosfet design of the DL24MP is objectively better. The 4 Wire Measurement (or should I say the lack of it) makes a bigger difference the higher your discharge rate is. Obviously using the thickest wire you can possibly shove in those terminals (I struggled to get 10AWG with ferrules in there as well) is going to give you the least amount of voltage drop. But no matter what the watt hour figure is going to be incorrect if you are only using the 2 wire method. I'm still trying to figure out a way to do the 4 wire measurement on packs that don't have exposed terminals and just have an XT60.

    I bought some eco worthy on black Friday these look better value for money tbh,do these have heating as well ? Thanks

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, these are sold out unfortunately but do not have heating but do have low temperature charge cut off. Also my test results fell short as i didn't initially charge with my Victron charger as it was in use, hence the low 13.35V start voltage so i am confident it will give me the 100Ah after i recharge.

    Looks similar to the daly app but better 😂

    Some cracking deals WERE about. Just bought a 'DC House' 12 100AH for £199 after 'watching it'. These are getting to be the same price as lead-acid now. Wait for the sales/Easter/Christmas if you can. I would be OK with 96ah given the features and its engineering in this particular case.

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the DC house are probably rebranded Eco-Worthy units and what a deal. It's great to see the competition bring prices down.

      @@DCGUY Yes, I deduced they maybe the same seller / product and took a punt, came with a nice M8 spanner as well. Kepworth 100ah, still OK btw, had zero issues with it after a year.

      @johnshaw359 I am looking at the DC house battery as well. How long have you had it? They claim grade a cylindrical cells are inside which I doubt at the price. Also a powerdj battery which also looks good value if the cells are ok.

    Anyone try to take apart one of these with the plastic ties on the bms. There are no bolts holding it down. What is holding it down. I have one cell that I can't get to top balance and want to charge it manually.

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How far out of balance is the cell? Has the battery been cycled a few times and what charge method are you using? While i didn't take this battery apart, i don't think the cable ties are doing very much but if you get stuck let me know and i will take a closer look at mine.
