Riddle me this: Is this product 100% in house? If so: Why does Toyota have to tarnish the Supra legacy by collaborating with BMW Not looking for a fight, honest debate only. Thank you
They are busy building economy cars they don't have time to build high performance one. Most lexus cars shares chassis with economy counterparts from toyota so yeah developed in house😂
Because none of these cars were the right platform for the engineering goals set by Tetsuya Tada. BMW approached him to design a sports car. Without spending millions on a low volume production sports car, Toyota worked with BMW to share the chassis and help them develop the B58 motor. The simple fact is that the market for 2 door sports cars is shrinking. No company finds it economical to invest in building cars like that. This car along with the ISF, RCF and GSF all are chassis's that are developed with standard V6's which is why the overall sale of the platform makes it economical. The Supra would have to be engineered from ground up and with todays sales, would end up being priced into the 6 figures. The supra has a higher rigidity than the LFA without the use of composites, is wider than the LFA and shorter than the 86. The goal was to build an actual quick performance car that has tuning potential. The B58 engine was extensively tuned by Toyota which is why it has a closed deck block with forged con rods, pistons and crank. These cars on a simple tune make 80hp more than stock. With more mods comes more power. They've proven to be reliable as well. This isn't the 90's any more and the economy doesn't have the buying power it did. Back then there was a market for a lot of things. Now most folks can't afford shit.
