It can use a microphone (included) or directly receive TV audio in some cases, particularly if you have an AV receiver.

We tried to bring down costs, and originally planned for a lower cost, but it's really surprising when you go from project to product how much extra costs there are; custom made plug-and-play cables vs soldering your own wires, various included accessories, an enclosure, regulatory testing, packaging, shipping, factory PCB assembly, office rent, business insurance, they all slowly add up to a lot more than you'd expect.
We will be offering discounts for bulk orders after we start shipping, primarily for distributors, but if you want them all for yourself that's cool too.

I wonder if these would go nicely with those LEDs that you can buy to give your Monitor/TV's a cool back light effect, the one's that CHANGE COLOR dynamically to match whatever's displayed on the screen. I really wanna see someone with the ViVi LED's put them in the same room with this kind of LED I'm talking about.
We're sure it would look great! Those systems read the video signal to match TV colors, so ViVi would not sync its colors, but it would match the TV audio. Maybe we can partner with one of the companies who make the TV lights in the future to sync the colors as well.

this is real good. how many strips can u put . on the same control. besides 3 ..
ViVi has 3 independent outputs, so you can have 3 completely unique outputs (like 3 controllers in one) and each of those outputs can be split at least 8 times to have multiple strips showing the same thing. ViVi can address a maximum total of 1,500 unique LEDs (if you split/mirror the duplicate strips don't count against that total).
I want these but I want them to be connected to my PC, is it possible to connect it to my Desktop via bluetooth? That'd be nice if it also had a desktop app, I use my PC 90% more over my phone when I'm playing music (cause I got some nice monitor speakers setup with it) and I'd ove to have these LED's light up whenever I'm playing games so when something like explosions go off, the lights fade brighter and then back to low (I imagine this happening anyways.) That would be soooooo cool!
You could connect to the Bluetooth, but we don't have a desktop app, only Android and iOS. The app is fairly simple since it only acts as a remote control, it's not required for the lights to run, so we may be able to develop a desktop version not too far into the future. All ViVi needs is an audio input, direct line-in or use the included external mic, and it will react to any sounds, so you can certainly use it for gaming. You only need to connect the app when you want to adjust settings, and color and animation both have auto options so they can change without your input, so you shouldn't need to use it too often.

You can play any music you like! ViVi does not play music, it reacts to your music, so you can play your favorite playlists from whatever platform you chose.
So if you source the lights yourself you just need the controller?
That's correct, our controller outputs the WS2811 data protocol which is used by a variety of lights.
Can these be pre sequenced to music like light o rama? If not can the colours be controlled to a set of say 3?
There is no pre-sequencing, they auto sequence in real-time to any music. Many of the animations have a continuous loop option if you want an interesting display with no music. Currently the colors cannot be set to a group of 3, there is only options for once static color, jumping to random, fading to random, and continuously fading through all colors. We will release firmware updates in the future, via the app, that will allow for setting groups of colors and other advanced customizations.

$300+ is still kind of expensive to be honest sorry, I would imagine $80 to even $200 being reasonable. I wonder just how much these are actually worth to make it that price or if you guys are only putting this price because you're like "first" to have these kinds of LEDs and since there's no competition (that I know of) then we the consumers are "fucked" into buying it at this price just like AT&T and Spectrum has to fuck us over here in Texas with crazy prices (until Google Fiber is fully implemented that is.) LOL. Just being honest.

Lol, it's nice to see you did some research. The price is 4 times higher now vs what we planned when we completed our first non-breadboard prototype. Besides all the unknowns and cost of running a business, we have to build in profit to be able to continue working, we decided to move manufacturing into the US and we have made this commercial grade with very high quality components, connectors, and safety circuity. We originally thought this would be a consumer product, but now most of our customers are businesses who are buying this instead of systems that cost $1k+ and require a PC running to support them. We will try again and work on developing a consumer version with a price of $99, but it will be 1 to 2 years before that is released.
I'm still a bit confused on the sources options... input and output wise... how does this work with your speakers... which components can and can't be used with this, and how is everything hooked up? Thanks!
Music input is through a 3.5mm jack, we include a microphone that plugs into the jack or using the included 3.5mm splitter you can directly plug in a AUX or line-level source (headphone jack) to ViVi and still plug the source into your speakers.
Output is a plug for LED strips, it carries power, ground, and data and works with WS2811, WS2812, WS2812B, and WS2813 LEDs. We include an adapter for the standard connection found on these strips, a 3-pin JST-SM plug.
Power is input through a 5.5x2.1mm barrel jack, the most common size there is, at 5V. You can use 5V power supply or with our included USB-to-barrel-jack cable you can plug it into a USB power bank or other USB port for power, such as a USB car charger.

I currently have a pioneer nexus series setup in my room. What would i need for the lights to sync up with the music coming from the speakers? and how many led strips come with the starter package and how many come with the portable kit? My next question is do the led strips have some type of adhesive on the back in order for them to stick to the walls?
You can either use our 3.5mm splitter to feed signal directly into ViVi or use the included external microphone to pick up sound from the speakers. Both kits come with two strips, but we have others with more and you can add strips separately as well, check out the indiegogo page for all the options, vivimusicled.com. The LED strips don't have any adhesive, all the strips we sell are inside a silicon sleeve and can be mounted with clips or tape.

The app is not released yet, but it will be available for both Apple and Android; We do have an app for prototypes in the Android store, but it's not useful to anyone without a prototype. You can connect 3 strips with nothing additional, strips can be made longer connecting them end-to-end, but if you want more strips in parallel you need a splitter which we sell (and include in some of the kits) or you can make your own splitters if you're familiar with wiring.

does this controller only work with pixel strips, or can 5050, 6803 etc also be used, aswell as how the different strips react.
ViVi currently only works with WS2811, WS2812, WS2812B, and WS2813 LED types. ViVi's connectors do have 4-pins, so we will be able to provide firmware updates to support additional LED types in the future.

I understand that the price point is probably that high because of parts and labor, but you guys were better off just creating a controller that would work on most RGB LED strips that are sold on Amazon. Amazon has it listed for $500. You have to be kidding me.
Our goal was to bring the capabilities of professional/commercial controllers into an easier to use controller that requires zero programming, and we did that. Our price is lower than the commercial controllers that still require programming, though we did hope to get it even lower, the actually costs turned out to be higher than expected once our design was finalized. It does work with generic addressable strips, specifically WS2811 and WS2812B. The most common RGB strips are not addressable so they can not create the animations. We will be focusing on sales to professional electricians for commercial installations for ViVi, but we will continue selling on Amazon as well. We plan to develop a lower cost controller, but we won't be starting development for at least a year.

We will be making new animations and adding other features, so we could add color blending. This is our first firmware version, the animations and colors are quite rigid, but they show off our controllers accuracy very well. We will also work on adding DMX control (master and slave capabilities) so it may eventually be able to control your existing DMX lights or be seamlessly controlled alongside them.

Do we need the controller only to do it like this or do we also need the power box? Can we use our own power box?
All you need from us is the controller, everything else is generic (LEDs, power, audio). Each controller comes with adapter cables to connect to 3 pin JST, the standard connector on WS2812B LEDs; we have 4 pin Molex header connectors on our PCB because JST doesn't make headers to match the JST-SM connectors used on LED strips and we didn't want fixed wires dangling from the controller.
Power is 5V with a 2.1x5.5mm barrel plug, the most common size there is.
Would it be possible to sync two Vivi?
What is the max number of LEDs that ViVi can drive? I've maxed out a basic arduino board at about 500 LEDs memory wise.
We recently upgraded the processor and it can run over 1,500. Because of the extra processing required it slows down the frame rate, so we are still listing 500 for now to be safe, but we will eventually settle on a number between 500-1,000 as recommended max and still allow for more if you really want to.
Visual Vibes 500 is way too low dont you think ? That number wont cover a reasonable set up for a bigger room. I think double of that is reasonable. Holding up my order until i see further improvements on this
Our production version unit has a different processor from the 500 limit prototype and can handle up to 1,500 LEDs. If you send the same data signal to multiple strips you can control many more LEDs as well, they will just show the same thing (like in the corner setup in the video, two strips are using the same data signal).

We do ship there, but currently we are not shipping and only have pre-orders available. You can pre-order here vivimusicled.com on Indiegogo, you can see prices there as well. The starter kit, includes splitter and two LED strips, will run about 270 sterling plus shipping and tax.
How many channels? Max amp per channel? Release for shipping date?
It has three independent outputs, each able to control up to 500 LED points (the data can also be shared to multiple strips so they all display the same thing). All components are able to handle a maximum of 5 amps continuous current, but we have a polyfuse that limits continuous current to 4A total, current can spike higher briefly without it shutting down. Power can be connected directly to LED strips to power larger displays. We are currently shipping our backlog of pre-orders, we won't catch up until the end of May. We are closing our Indiegogo at the end of April, it will be available again via Amazon starting in June, with two-day shipping.

You can place pre-orders for Denmark as well, the orders will ship at the same time, but they may arrive a little later since it has farther to travel.
The LED strips are 5m or 2m, the 2m are higher density for smaller setups. You can cut them down to any length between each LED and you can attach them together to make them even longer.

Currently we don't sell in India. Due to import restrictions it takes time and money to clear ViVi for sale in various countries and we are starting off with a limited number. We will expand to India and more in the future.
Is that single controller support 100 meter led strip
With no custom work it will support four 5 meter led strips. If you add extra power you can have nearly unlimited total LED strips by splitting the data signal to mirror multiple strips. The longest single display, that splits at the center like in the video, could be 20m. If you do a little extra customization to use 12V WS2811 strips you could have a single line, displaying from the center again, of 60m.
will the leds dance to music from speakers?? or just the mobile
Sleepyyyy21 It will dance to music from speakers. An external microphone is included. Alternatively you can use the included 3.5mm splitter to feed audio directly to ViVi and leave the rest of your setup the same. The phone app is only to adjust settings, a phone doesn't need to be involved at all for ViVi to function.

Sleepyyyy21 all kits come with the same controller and you can always add/change LEDs, so any kit can work. If you want lights outside the PC go with the standard kit to get 30LED/m density strips, if you want lights inside get the 60LED/m strip, you could just buy one separately and mix the two if you want some inside and some outside, like on your desk or wherever. Also FYI we have had delays and won't be shipping until June.

Guys, you have a good idea, I search good controller for a year but why it's so expensive? Can you make a ,,slim" version of controller, with 1 rgb output (mids) ,without BT and others for half price?
Thanks. We could make a lower cost model with one output, a smaller processor, and other limitations. We wanted ViVi to be as versatile as possible so we made it with it's current features. We are a new company so we don't have the resources to develop multiple products at once, so this is the path we chose. Our next product will actually be a more expensive and more powerful controller for automating full DMX lighting setups. After that we may consider making a low cost one-strip version, but that could be 2 years from now.

It's very easy to setup, everything just plugs in and works. If you make a very large setup (more than about 6 strips; all setups in the video used 3 or fewer strips) then you may need to do some custom work to distribute power, but we are working on ways to make that easier too. We are working on tutorials to help with both the simple and more complex setups, but we haven't posted them yet.

No. We have a fourth non-LED port that we may develop various accessories for, which could include a physical controller, which among other controls, could manually trigger actions, but we don't plan to ever develop software to fully program a song ahead of time. We will of course continue to improve our automation.

We currently don't sell in India due to the extra certifications, costs, and logistics associated with expanding to any additional country. We will expand to more countries, including India, in the future once we have the time and money to do so. We plan to be available in India by the first quarter of 2018.
