All art is proof positive of the existence of a whole other strata of reality. It may be emergent, but it is real, has impact and is more meaningful to the broad public than all the discoveries and theories of all the physicists combined.

even though one might find beauty in a single note or a brushstroke, a combination or composition of many such elements becomes much more attractive if harmonious or when it relates with a particular vibe in the audience...

A very narrow view of the arts. Perhaps take a look at the "Mysticism of Sound and Music" by Inayat Khan.
"Through music, the soul learns harmony and rhythm, and thereby the music of life.”

...I am sorry, there you go with categories, then the essences of multiple items within those sections. I am a musician, award winning artist, servant of GOD, handicapped, single. The value of the Arts is I just have an underlying to create, tuner, invent, think deeply on many layers. Just imagine what I might be able to do unencumbered within this world. Heaven has to be a blast, respectfully ordinarychuck hotmail... captivus brevis... you tube... Blessings...I will see you there...

It's criminal... that the great Ananda Coomaraswamy is never mentioned, ever, by academicians.. he was just a world-class metaphysician, that's all.. student and seeker of much, and particularly, art. His understanding of iconography, figurative speech, art, and scripture is above and beyond. I have like 8 of his books.

I adore 'Closer To Truth', & have watched many hours of episodes, but am always bewildered by the lack of imagination in approaching practising artists & poets in the same way that philosophers, theologians & scientists are sought out. The creative arts have much to offer on 'matters of truth' & intellectual discovery, & it's a shame that 'Closer to Truth' has not realised this. We could, indeed, be 'closer to truth'.

Regarding art, bliss is often acknowledged through the site of grace, for such is higher than mere course survival instincts. Grace is revelatory of a kind of union. But a union with what? There's many principle conceptions that can't be explained from an atom level. There's something intelligent. God.

I don’t know about Arts or Bobs or Matt’s philosophy but I bet it has something to do with not having arms or legs.
    Blahaha
    Oops. You’re discussing the “ beautiful “.
My apologies to Art Bob and Matt.
I’m curious to know if Beauty is pre- existent.
Who would observe “ beauty “ before a human could observe it?
Wigner boxes and Schrodinger’s cat: the subjective experience of God is our objective reality.

    "What is Philosophy of Art?"
The freedom to chooose to explain art is not a property of physical matter being enslaved by natural physical laws...
and the brain is a physical matter, so, it can not choose to explain art...
..it is our AWARE SELF who is our free immortal soul, who already had experienced Heaven and Hell in the spiritual realm, before coming to earth, who can understand the beauty or ugliness of any art that conveys the beauty of Heaven and the horrors of hell that can not be conveyed through traditional, normal, or common forms of clear communications...
..the reason is because this Universe was created to represent Heaven and Hell to provide as hints to believe that there is better or worse place hereafter so to hopefully find faith in a loving GOD for our souls' salvation... and because Heaven and hell is beyond the reach of humans' limited physical senses, we can only express it through ART since our souls can somehow sense it...
