Thank you 1958cairo. I was born on this date at St. Mary's hospital in Cairo. This video has brought back many memories I thought I would never have. Bless you and yours for creating it!
Thank you for posting this. I lived in Cairo until I was five and still have relatives there. Looking at your video makes me miss it so much. It really is a beautiful small town. Yes, it does have it's problems but there are still some great people there. I've always loved the gorgeous older homes there they have so much history and love in them. I'm so glad that they are trying to save this town. However, I do feel for the farmers and will be praying for them.
@grangersmith: I replied to your post in the other Cairo video. The Ohio River reached the top of the concrete levee in downtown Cairo. It was a dangerous situation as the river reached a historic level. Blowing the Birds Point levee probably saved Cairo. Yes, Cairo remained relatively dry inside the levee. Some folks got 6 feet of water in their basements.
@1958 i have been following other videos of cairo. Theres one building downtown that looks to be in good shape and is quite a cool building. I heard that a barber owns and works the place. Do you know the building? I also would love to know what is the details of the Gem theater? Ps...you have my email address...i very much welcome your emails. Thanks again for getting back to me!
Where is the water? Where is the danger? Where is the flood? Why are you forced to leave your homes? This makes no sense. So every time the government thinks that something may happen they frighten you into leaving? I think you need to question why this is going on, what is really going on here? It's mind boggling to me, I don't see any real threat, and up to this point besides a few sink holes and sand bubbles, (can be avoided, cornered off) there's none.
Can there not be the arguement of historical value to help protect Cario? Didn't Grant march through during the Civil War. I know there are historical homes.

@thecondor7 : The longer video shows the artist, but this one doesn't. Sorry, I can't remember. I selected it from youtube's "swap audio" menu.
The music was nice, what was it?
@ctclemons13: Maybe that played into the decision to save Cairo.
