That cat is lucky, it's definitely possible for cats to come out unscathed but they can also be seriously injured or even die. I rescued my youngest cat after she fell out of a thirty story building. She had major facial and head injuries, plus broke the top part of her femur off and required surgery to remove it. She was in a crate for three months after rescue for recovery and has lifelong repercussions from the head injuries. She lost her ability to smell, is partially deaf, requires daily eye drops in her right eye (if not, the pressure will grow to a point that she'll lose it) and can't eat by herself very well - I have to hand feed her several times a day. So it's not a definite that a cat will survive a fall like this - so thankful he did and that he's been able to get medical care and has a safe place to stay while his owner gets back on their feet!
30 stories is unimaginable. i know it depends on the cat, how old they are (older cats wouldn't survive something like this) and their ability to balance and right themselves while falling. you're right that he was lucky in this case. 3 stories is a perfect distance to be high enough to get hurt, but also low enough that a cat would not have very much time to balance itself before hitting the ground. that is likely why he fell forward and hurt his lip when he hit the ground. either way, thankful that he's okay, and also that your cat is still around after that incident.
How many storeys(british spelling) did she fall? It's difficult to imagine her surviving a fall from the top storey of a 30 storey building. Clearly, it was a major fall, causing many disabilities. Is she still healing, or is her current condition how she'll be? I hope she's not in pain. Thank you so much for taking care of her so diligently!!
Cats have an evolutionary adaptation to falling from high places. If you slow the video down you will notice how, mid-fall, they first orient themselves with the ground and spread their limbs out to make their body into a rudimentary parachute. They then position their four limbs equidistant and prepare to use their muscles as a slight springboard to cushion their spine and internal organs when they hit the ground.
Exactly my thought. I was expecting for the team below to at least ready some net or even a blanket.. coz it's not news thst cats can be skittish and would just jump.. the fireman out the window made Goldie jump, not saying it is his fault, it's not, just wondering why no one thought to think of providing any safety net. Thank God Goldie is okay though
New Yorkers call the rest of the country's first floor the ground floor. The second floor is then their first floor and so on. By New York measurements the math is correct.
It's been studied that how cats fall from higher heights is what often spares them serious injury or death. They seem to spin and flail helplessly, but that motioning they do slows the fall just enough to help survive it (and how they "always land in their feet). It's also why experts tell people to stop dropping or tossing their cats from your hands/arms onto the ground. It's sometimes more dangerous for them in short sudden drops than falling from some higher heights.
Cats aren't like human beings. There are many instances where cats have fallen from very great heights and survived unharmed. However, some people anthropomorphise cats, hence this gross overreaction.
What a sweetheart….I’m so happy Goldie has survived and is recovering…hugs and kisses and much love to this precious kitty! 🧡🧡🧡
Get well soon Goldy baby ❤
Get well soon for both Goldy and the owner!

Wowzers! That’s a lot of daily care!! Bless you!!
That is one very fortunate cat to have such a loving and compassionate person in their life.
I wonder why nobody tried to catch the cat in a jacket or blanket to break her fall?
@@EatCow it was an accident... there was most likely nobody near enough to catch the cat

Yes, it’s really interesting!
I never knew there was a profession of: “independent cat rescuer” 0:41
Me too. Such an interesting job. She will be on Inside Edition soon ha ha 😆
@ sunnydelight, to me it sounds like it is possibly her side gig/hobby. I doubt that’s her full-time 9-to-5 job, she’s making a living from.
God bless you!!
Poor kitty. Get well soon Goldie!
Bless him
Poor baby he’s got some years on him and this makes his entire body hurt ❤ prayers for both . Nice lady to help them
The four cats we have Boggie and Duffy and Tigger and Bowie are the furry kids of the family, and we love all of them.

Estoy orando por ti Goldie
I'm glad you are ok, bubby ❤
I just love these cat stories ❤
🙏
GOLDIE,YOU ARE MARICLE
Why no "Bed thing" on the ground, so in case the cat Jumped ( which the cat did) the cat would directly go to the ground or pavment!
Very heartwarming video 👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh dear...get well soon sweetie
Get well soon Goldie!
Aww get well soon goldy 💛
Cats a G!
That's crazy falls several stories and busts his lip, his own fangs probably did that. The baby is definitely down to 8 lives. He's a cutie ❤
For all the cat parents out there all over America we love you Goldie I hope you get very well soon we love you and also your whomin
What a sweet kitty
That was the fifth floor. Cat fell over 4 stories. Yall cant count.

Goldie❤🙏
Best of luck to that sweet boy.
Aweee 💜💜💜
God bless Goldy. ❤
I hate that they clip his ear to show he is fixed. A little notch is sufficient.
My cat fell 30 ft and survived. Cats usually land on their feet when falling from significant heights
AWW 😻 💖
❤Goldie❤
Thank the stars that Goldie is okay
Couldn't they put someone soft on the ground to catch her fall.
Hope u both are both getting better now x
What a good cat, what a pretty cat.
The Little Love 💕💕
GOD Willing it makes a full and speedy recovery.
Poor little angel...
We need updates on how Goldy's doing...
Poor Goldie, glad she's okay, but recovering from the fall. 🤕
Goldie did great! This cat needs to be careful!!
My heart stopped & screamed ad I watched this !! Thanks to the firefighters tried help & being there anyway .Speed recovery kitty !!! 😺 👍👍🙏💜🥁🐲🎤💞🎶🐈💕💞
My cat is named Goldie too
Love those helpful and clever New Yorkers. City people are always helping. Small towns don’t help anyone, they say they do.

Goldie definitely used one of its 9 lives.
AMOUR.... 💓💓💓😻🐈🙏🙏🙏

Why tf didn’t they set up something soft at the bottom? … 😠 Very happy Goldy survived 🙏🏼❤️❤️
