    Since most people pour dollars into a Jeep, look in the desert southwest. You can be sure there's no rust. Not even the beginnings of rust. Since it's dry here, it won't have been submerged in mud or water either. Water ruins bushings, bearings, front end parts... everything.
    No below zero engine starts.
    No condensation in the engine oil. No water contaminated trans, transfer or axles.
    It's MORE than worth it to take a trip. It'll save thousands.

    Check for abnormal wear on the front tires - baldness on the outside edge of the front tires can indicate a bad Viscous Coupler in the transfer case, bad upper and lower ball joints, or both! New tires, ball joints and repairs to the TC could amount to well over $1000!

    Great list & I like how when you said how things should and shouldn’t look and then did cuts of examples of what you mean. Keep that up so we’re able to know what to hear or look for

    Great list! Oil pressure is important too. It will give you an idea about engine wear.

    Just bought a 2005 Rubicon. ALL STOCK.
    Going to keep it that way. I built a 97 Wrangler. I upgraded everything, but this rubicon is staying stock.

    What about a basic manifold vacuum test and reading of OBD2 sensor CEL codes, fuel trims, timing advance, water temp, MAP etc. They will tell you a LOT about the condition of the engine.

    • @JereJose99
      @JereJose99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YJ's are pre OBD2. You have to do a sequence with the ignition and key to get the engine panel to read the codes back to you.

    First thing I would do it do a "title search" with the vin. I want to know where its been and how many owners. That will disqualify 1/2 the jeeps right there. I prefer a 1 owner jeep. You can see the maintenance that it had. Has if been in a bad wreck? Did stay up North with road salt. A title search will keep you from waisting a lot of time. One I was looking for had 10 owners, (I know some had retitled it) way too many for me.

    I had a CJ many years ago, IT may be the road I took it on since the guy had no plate so put on his car plate for me to drive it but just felt it rocked side to side a lot driving, steering felt ok but will drive again today,

    I just bought my first jeep, grand Cherokee 2004, clean as fuck, zero rust, interior spotless, 155000 miles, had a cracked radiator, so I put a new one in, new thermostat, oil change, checked all the gear fluids, transfer case, transmission, everything is good, then put a 3 inch lift kit on it, first time I took it above 50 mph, death wobble, so I check all the ball joints for movement, drag link was very sloppy, so now I have one coming in the mail tomorrow, paid 5000 for it, and just keep pumping money into it
