  • More developer portfolio reviews! This week's entries had one of the most creative and impressive projects I've seen so far. A huge theme for this video is marketing yourself in the best light possible as each one of these portfolios is job-ready, to me, with a few tweaks.
    Thanks again to everyone who sends these in.

    As an outsider trying to break into this field, this channel is a gem. It has really helped me gauge my skill and get over 'imposter syndrome'... Now I'm kicking myself for not applying for jobs earlier! I couldn't be more thankful for what you're doing!

      @@vk-fb4ox Thanks, Domposer took 6 months but is still ongoing when I get the time, I didnt know javascript before making this only html css, I built it in my spare time when not working a full time hotel job, I did actually get my web dev job off the back of this, the other projects are just bits and pieces I have done in my spare time. I was actually made a senior recently. Domposer was created before I had a web dev job and is coming on 4 years ago now, I'm going to have a go at rebuilding again is abit of a monolith and alot has changed since it was created.

    • @DarianSampare
      @DarianSampare  3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      People have unconscious biases, even the best of people without knowing it, we’re wired that way by nature.
      What if they assume you’re too young? Too old? What if you look like a guy they really hate and it triggers them, what if they think you’re too good looking and in shape to be a stereo typical back end engineer. All these are crappy things to say, and might not matter, but my point is it doesn’t help you and can only hurt you to put it there.
      It shouldn’t matter what I look like if I can do the job.

    On the serious side, what's the problem with everyone having a movie app? What else should one want to see on it? I don't have the perspective of an employer... but how much more do you have to do to prove that you can do the job?
