    Matt that's why Volvo makes the doors so big. They know what happens to operators heads. Soon DP won't be able to get in and out of the 120. Lol God bless

    The Dynamic duo at full throttle! Batman and Robin and all we have to do is figure out who Batman is and who Robin is, so I'll start with Mike as Batman and his trusty side kick NYA Millennial Matt as Robin. I just hope no one calls the Police because these two Yahoos in the same place at the same time are a riot! Thanks for the video Mike and another job well done.

    For the 40 plus years I was in the excavating business the majority of what I did was install septic systems....so was cool to see the tank install. I think I had told you before that I had a JD 160LC of the same vintage as your 120 (2000 machine) and the reason for that size machine was that you could lift up to a 1250 gallon septic/dosing tank so that you could have the truck drop the tanks on site and have them waiting for you to set them instead of having to wait for the truck to show up (or the truck waiting for you to finish up the hole). Was nice to see you guys go thru the process....it's been a bit over 7 years since the last I did any septic work and do miss it from time to time, but I get over it quick...LOL

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Was questioning if the cold start would be ok with a Coke can in the holder, but thankfully the 120 didn’t take offense to an inferior product placement being left in it during its nap. Job is turning out really nice, looking forward to seeing the finished product. Crazy about the various soil conditions in such close proximity. Always entertaining to see the friendship between you and your crew. Wishing you and your family the best.

    Another great job guys you two have such a good time at work if everyone got along as well as you two the world would be a lot better off. Wish you were in my area of the world so I could hire you to do my septic, pond, and general dirt and landscaping. Your probably the only contractor I wouldn’t be worried about watching to see if the work was performed correctly. God bless and keep up the honest work we need more like you two.

    I manufactured and installed precast concrete septic tanks in Yuma, Arizona. About 800+ per year. We almost never hit a rock; it was all sugar sand. Easy digging but had to dig pretty large holes in order to set tanks but it sure sloped well. We never had a soil compaction issue though. Good luck with all your rock digging.

    It's interesting to see the differences in the way things are done from place to place. Most of the time in my area of Maine if a lift station is needed, the septic tank is placed as close to the house that it is allowed to be, 10' minimum from the house in most areas. Then the lift station, dosing tank as you call it is right next to the tank. Most guys want to save on the wire for the pump and alarm and the 4' pipe that is required from the house to the tank. The pipe from the pump to the leach field is usually 1 1'2" black plastic.

    • @rockenh1535
      @rockenh1535 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm in southern ohio and have a mound, the tank is about 20' from the house the dose tank is about 200' out beside the mound. the pump burned out in 2 years, replaced it and it burned out quickly again, it was a one horse motor and i think there was a voltage drop that caused that because of the distance of the wire. with the next pump i went down to a half horse motor and its been working good for 3 years now.

    Great video. I have limited experience with those anode bags/devices. It attracts the oxidation before the good metal. On top of a water heater is a big nut. About an inch or so. If you unscrew that you will pull out the anode. It saves your water heater. On the back of a steel hull ship you’ll have anodes blocks to save the hull.

    The bag that goes in with the propane tank is a cathodic protection. It works good when installed properly and is actually used. They use them under large above ground petroleum storage tanks. I’ve snagged the wires of a couple of them🤦‍♂️. And I’ve installed some.

  • @user-zl1bh2gk1b
    @user-zl1bh2gk1b 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guys. Just a little constructive criticism. I've been installing septic's for well over 30 years and one thing you need to do is compact the backfill well before you install any piping. (At 49:10). If you don't, especially with the clay type soil you have, the pipe will settle where the overdig is and will create a problem down the road. I've seen 4" sch 40 sag 4+ inches in a 2ft overdig.
    Other than that, great work!👍

    Damn DP, wish we would have had a guy like you when I was back in High school putting in pools with my Grandpa. We had a guy that would leave the slope from the shallow to the deep end of about 6in to 7in high going form left to right almost every time. Of course My job was hand digging the rest out. If you don't know, I assume you do, When you set final grade on liner pools you set the walls first and then come back and get final grade. All the dirt has to be thrown out over the wall and far enough to clear the footer. We would end up moving about 3 yards of dirt by hand sometimes. I do not miss those days. Before you ask we were a small operation so we always hired the backhoe work so not an option to use it once the walls were up.
    always enjoy your videos.

    The bag used for corrosion protection is called a magnesium anode bag. It is suppose to be installed a foot below the bottom of the tank below the sand layer. It needs ground moisture to do it's job. Suppose to soak it in water before you install it in the bottom of the hole.

      Marine vessels have solid anodes welded to the hull or structure, there's electrical charges in the natural environment, batteries have anode and cathode plates so these anodes are sacrificial components but when eaten away the metal parts are next on the menu
