- Welcome to a 30-minute chill ambient modular synthesizer experience! In this video, I’m exploring the world of generative music through the use of some powerful modular synths.
Generative music is a type of music that is created through a set of rules or instructions that generate new musical patterns and sequences over time. In other words, the music is not pre-written or composed, but rather emerges through an ongoing process of improvisation and variation.
One of the modular synthesizers I’m using in this video is Beads by Mutable Instruments. This module is capable of generating rich and complex textures using granular synthesis. By manipulating the parameters of this module, we'll create evolving soundscapes that shift and morph in subtle and unexpected ways.
I’m also using Pamela's New Workout, a versatile clock and modulation source that allows us to generate rhythmic and melodic patterns in real-time. This module can be used to trigger events, control tempo, and create complex polyrhythms.
Finally, I’m using my new 4ms Ensemble, which is a multi-voice oscillator that generates lush and harmonically-rich sounds. By combining different voices and modulating their parameters, we can create intricate and evolving harmonic patterns that add depth and complexity to this soundscape.
This patch is exploring the capabilities of these modular synthesizers and using them to create a unique and immersive sonic environment. So sit back, relax, and let the generative music take you on a journey through sound and time.
It's beginning to look a lot like xmas
Very interesting work! Like that the machine is essentially in control… ‘creating’ this enjoyable piece. Absolutely love that it’s displayed as a musical ‘sculpture’, sitting there ‘thinking’ and making adjustments as it plays!!! Has anyone ever thought of making/selling a simplified setup within a flashy case!? Very cool music and video….thanks
Beautiful soundscapes, I recently circuit bent an old analog mixer and it has yielded much fruit so far. This is definitely something I am striving towards creating, though I do like having that human element, aka Man/Machine. There’s a fine line between being a conduit and a conductor. Blessings and Respect.
Would not call it chill, nor ambient. But in any case pleasant to listen to, and a fascinating painting and alternations of soundscapes. Also like how you explain what t he different modules do, and how it all works together. Thank you!
Que hermosura. Suena celestial y eterno. Mucho diseño y una atmósfera profunda y mágica que produce un sentimiento de bienestar.
Lovely stuff, such a depth of sounds and a lot of evolution.
Amazingly inspirational, thank you
Really cool instrument you have there, sounds really cool 😎 nice work 👍
It has a positive mood elevation to it.
Wow - I LOVE IT
so cool
Sounds great!!
very nice thanks ! (subbed 👌)
Are those plotter art pieces? And if so, did you do them? Generative to the max!
Yeah that’s (mostly) my own plotter art. Generative extremist haha
Good form Mr. Wizard!
Yes! ✋. xxxxxx!!!!
Where do I even begin when getting into this hobby?????
I started here: th-cam.com/video/UXEyEIo-WtA/w-d-xo.html
Very nice! What's the module on the bottom right that lights up?
The waveform visualiser? It’s a indie piece of kit a guy called digdugdiy made for me on order. He has an Etsy, you should check him out!
@@pierreyves5546 That's so cool. Strangely I spotted one of these in a random Instagram video the other day and wondered what it was but lost the video. Definitely going to look that one up. Thanks!
Very nice! Do you have your rig on modulargrid?
Yes, here it is: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1904551
@@pierresgenerativemusic thanks so much!
@@pierresgenerativemusic awesome, I was just going to ask for this!
@@pierresgenerativemusic such fun to check that out, thanks!
👽✨🌍🌹🌿
Who is playing the synth?
The synth is playing itself!
@@pierresgenerativemusicis it a loop? ➰
@@drewblancheno it's always changing, it's generative music based on chance and probabilities, which the modules turn into signals to trigger and modulate the sounds... It never repeats
@@pierresgenerativemusic that’s cool
