Then they got Angela Gossow in the band and it was still legit DM... but then they got fucking pidgeon holed as the "DM with chick singer" and started marketing themselves as such. She listed several kinda mainstream bands and most of them has been picked by her because (as she mentions it herself) they're her friends. I might be wrong but as far as I remember there was some Napalm Death or Opeth frontmen, who I think are actually great growlers, but most of them were either extremely obvious picks or very strange

for me some of the best BM nowadays come from the USA: Trhä, Vaamatar, Ancient Necromancy, Aargøn, Ritual Knife, Gauntlet Ring, Yaotl Mictlan

I think it was Revolver that recently did an interview with the current Arch Enemy singer - about the best growls in metal. She listed several kinda mainstream bands and most of them has been picked by her because (as she mentions it herself) they're her friends.
I might be wrong but as far as I remember there was some Napalm Death or Opeth frontmen, who I think are actually great growlers, but most of them were either extremely obvious picks or very strange
