From then, I’ve now built multiple redstone computers and a calculator! I know the video is old so most people won’t see it but, thank you for introducing me to redstone.
You don't need the block in front of the piston door (in other words the one two spaces away from the tree), that way the ladder reaches the top, there's no block above it when the door is open, but when it's closed, it still covers the entrance perfectly. Makes the entrance more accessible, or more specific the exit of the base less annoying (I personally hate it, when the ladder doesn't get to the top). I know autojump exists, but you still have to take that extra step to mostly make another step down right after that, because reasons. Remove that extra block and when you reach the top of the ladder, you're on the flat ground, no extra block to step over. When you hit the lever, your piston door still covers the hole with the ladder, so that's that.
This is really cool but what I wouldve done us find a tree next to a higher hill/mountain with naturally spawned stone and used a stone button and make a T flip flop instead. Although it would take longer and maybe be harder to hide the redstone if you can hide the redstone the base would be much, much more hidden
