Thank you for your video, it's very informative! But I wonder if I pick the discard pile while making the initial meld, can I still get the talon (if the turn card isn't drawn yet)?

You are so welcome!
The purpose of the Talon is to replenish cards that you opened with. your initial meld. If you pick the discard pile on opening/initial meld, you do not get the Talon because you are getting all those discards to replenish your hand.
If you aren't picking the pack and you reach the turn card when you are opening/initial meld, you do not get the Talon. So, you must have two cards left to stay in the game, one to discard and one to hold.
