Man this short reminded me how much I miss 2D/hand-drawn animated films! Bring them back Disney, if you do it right they'll make money!
Maybe they’ll bring back hand-drawn animation for the upcoming Disney+ Tiana series.
Eric Goldberg is a literal Disney character himself ! Such a lovely man.
Disney, please put the featurette of all the voice actors that aired during the broadcast on TH-cam. It was such a cool look behind the scenes and way to historic of a moment to only be seen once then die.
I know this maybe unlikely, but I hope it receives an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film and maybe (if possible) win an Oscar.
I agree with you. It needs to win an Oscar👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@AwesomeOKing0197 Thank you for agreeing with me, but I need to be cautious. Because 9 years ago when Get A Horse got nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, I had high hopes it’ll win, but when the participates announce the winner, Get a Horse didn’t win. I was upset, I was obsessed about it, and I’ve been ranting about it. And it’s very unhealthy for me. But I will hope OUAS will get nominated an Oscar and I hope it wins but this time with caution.
Okay
I hope so.
Honestly, I'm okay with it just being nominated. Seeing all these characters with a variety of success come together and treat each other like equals makes me feel that maybe we shouldn't let winning a little statue dictate whether something is better or worse than something else. So, if this wonderful love letter to one of the most important mainstream animation divisions ever wins, that's great! But if an indie short that is just as creative, imaginative and beautiful wins instead, I'd just be glad Disney earned the nomination anyway.
Do you realize how many people cried? Do you know how beautiful this digital short was? Any idea how touching and loving it was when Mickey took off his hat as he looked up at the painting of Walt Disney? Cause let me tell you…..I balled. I didn’t cry, I balled. I BALLED!! 😭 😭
I BALLED, TOO! You are so right!
Bawled, not balled
@@jennifer_m.8613 thanks! I wasn’t sure which spelling was correct. And I was gonna spell it like that too
@@jennifer_m.8613we're having this conversation about a short film with Timon and Pumbaa in it.
Pumbaa: I gravel at your feet!
Timon: it's not gravel, it's grovel!
I cried when I saw Mickey tips his hat to Walt and this is a beautiful short
This is the greatest short film Disney has ever created! I NEED a copy of that group picture at the end of the film! PLEASE sell it online!!!!
I already saw Once Upon A Studio on ABC, Disney Channel, and on Disney+, and it was still awesome! 😁😁😁😁😁👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
It was like "Disney's House of Mouse" all over again with a hint of "Night at the Museum"
Walt Disney said, "If you can dream it, you can do it, and don't let anybody say you can't." This is my biggest dream goal of bringing the 2-D animated style from Disney once again, and I'll save Hollywood for stopping all this ridiculous madness.
@joshuamunn2410I totally agree with you
So is mine! That's also my biggest dream goal!🤩Great minds sure think alike, huh? I can't wait to start working with you once I get a job at Disney as an artist and animator!😊Let's do our very best to save Hollywood!✊🏻
I'm so happy this Disney short exists. Best Disney short in a very, very long time!!!
2D animation never dies. In fact, it has got more traction than CGI ever did recently. People got so sick of CGI animation that lacked any human artistry for years. They wanted 2D animation to come back into the limelight after years of neglect by Hollywood itself. Animation itself is for everyone, and it's an art medium as a whole. What these suits from Disney, Hollywood, etc don't understand is that Animation is a human art in of itself, not just for kids but by adults, teens and elders can enjoy the art of animation as a whole.
To be fair Cgi animation is awesome in it's own right and we need to remember that it's not the creatives that make decisions like never doing 2d movies again. But that said yes traditional 2d animation is just as important and I'm so glad movies like Spider verse or Turtles now exist that can show why that works and why people love that style of animation. My hope is that Wish is a success so the stubborn execs at Disney see that again too.
@@Cloud-dt6xb Disney, Hollywood, and so many other companies are just too rotten to the public anymore, so I'm willing to change them after I've got a dream job and stop all this madness in today's world to make "What" we really want to watch, cause as long Hollywood redeemed themselves, Disney and the companies will have another chance.
Once upon a studio was BEAUTIFUL. So many characters and deep cuts all mingling together. I wish that short was longer.
This was such a beautiful and sweet short that every time I watch it I get chills and goosebumps
So reminded me of House of Mouse! Please bring it back, even if only for a couple of specials 🙏
This is, honestly, the best thing I’ve seen from Disney in 10 years; it felt truly sincere and the moments it gives to certain characters, where you’d explain those characters to do something, made me smile… not to mention just the selection of characters that both surprised me and made me happy (particularly the Meet The Robinsons characters).
I have my issues with Disney, as a company, but this was a beautiful, understated tribute that had moments for everyone to enjoy; a true love-letter to Disney’s 100 years and I’m so glad we have this behind the scenes video as I was searching for one soon after finishing the short film.
You felt the love everyone who worked on the short poured into it, it had so much heart and it was just pure Disney magic
‘To ALL Who Have IMAGINED With Us, LAUGHED With Us, & DREAMED With Us…. THANK YOU.’

Happy 100th Anniversary, Disney!
More behind-the-scenes content like this please!! ❤️✨
Perhaps the best Disney Short ever!
I love seeing the 2d animation and 3D animation come together this was a amazing short film happy 100th anniversary Disney you are the best
this was so fun! I love Eric's descriptions of working on it! I loved the short for the attention to the older animation
As a fan of Hand-drawn animation, seeing all the classic characters from Disney’s history featured in this short film had put a big, joyful smile on my face, as if part of my love for Disney had resurfaced after so long. “Once Upon a Studio” is an excellent short film, probably my favorite by far and I would love to see hand-drawn animated films make a return soon!
It’s been a truly magical journey and a wonderful celebration of my favorite childhood movies and I loved watching every single moment of this great tribute short Happy 100 years of Disney Magic🪄👍❤️🥲
I cant front. I kinda wish i was part of this 100 year celebration. To have been a voice actor to one or more of these iconic characters, to work at Disney or write, draw, etc. This was such a incredible moment
This Short Film perfectly sums up my love for Disney Animation and for the craft as well.
Happy 100th year of Magic and Wonder Disney ✨️
"Well, the people at Disney have a different thought process than Walt Disney when he started. He just wanted to have fun and tell stories for children... great imagination. People today want to rearrange everything and have nothing new to build on, and since they are not happy people, they can't make happy movies. I'm glad you recognize the differences being made. " Mentioned by my Grandma Georgia.
It was beautiful. And it broke me to tears.
I loved the little shadow details and the neck tie! It looked so fantastic.
I loved this for a few different reasons, but I think one reason for me is that it shows Disney can still do classic 2D animations. They can return to the art form if they wanted to and haven't completely shy away from it. The question is, will Disney ever return to 2D for a movie is yet to be determined. Just seeing the mix of cel shade, hand drawn, cgi, its wonderful. Plus you can't not tell me you didn't cry or considered crying at Mickey talking to Walt.
I adore this short film animation it is fantastic it is everything I alway wanted Disney animation did such magical job to have animation coming to live it take back to Roger Rabbit and Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers it is greatest project of animation. I get so many comment on instagram each part of the scene i put I so glad to see this. I love when Snow White bring in Asha from Wish brand new Disney character to join in the newest addition to Disney Family. 🏰🌟⭐🌠🌟💖💙
Thank you for this excellent behind-the-scenes. I was so pleased how much heart went into the short
The short was amazing!
And that was legendary!!!
Just loved this. Slowly there is some magic making its way back. Keep it coming!!!

I’ve watched it three times now, absolutely love it. Next time I watch it, I’m going to freeze frame every shot to try and pick out everything. 😁
I sobbed 😭😭
2D animation will never die off. In fact, in recent years, it has only gotten more popular than CGI animation. There is a way to save Disney, but it requires patience and determination to take back the magic of the company. I hope I can succeed in the end.
I also plan to bring 2d animation back to Disney again. It may take some time, but I'm sure that if we band together, we'll succeed! Let's do our very best!

Fun fact: The Short once upon a Studio was Suppose shown Attached to Walt Disney Animation Studios Newest feature, WISH! 🌟 however, it was scrapped After The short's premiere on ABC and It's Streaming on Disney plus The next day.
However, it was Shown in front of the Japanese version of Disney's Wish. 🌟
It should have been a lot longer we talked about a 100 years here. To do it right to do honor to Walt Disney and all he created. At least 2 to 3 hours long. Even that would not be quite long enough. Need to make a big production and bring everyone in.
So this was his part of his memories
And I remember those memories about every legendary characters!!!
When Mickey says to Oswald “after you” 🥹🥹
I love the once upon a studio . I was so touched to watched it even i cried 😢

This was a good short.
I hope that in the 2060s, after the copyright expires, Tezuka's Astro Boy series gets reimagined in Disney style. It would be amazing to see it released with a rich storytelling focus on space, science, and the future. Looking forward to it!

I wish I would've been interviewing Eric Goldberg in this, because no body is talking about how Once Upon a Studio finally gave us the collaboration between two of the greatest animators of all time, Eric Goldberg and James Baxter.
This is super freaking awesome.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
When I think of Disney animators, I think of the guy on the right. I definitely don’t think of the guy on the left. Lol.
Despite the actions of the suits lately people need to remember there's more to a movie studio then just them. The creatives at disney still have that passion and desire to tell good stories not to mention all those that came before them. It's a shame Iger is acting the way he is during such a monumental year for the company but it's not just about him so I can happily put that aside while watching this.
I think it’s really sad that you decided to cancel a film that has a major impact on the company history is Song of the South. No love for Brer Bear, Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit. Sad.
It is an absolute insult that they were not included, i refuse to watch it as a result
@@AshChirnMusicI agree with you that the Brers should have been included but I would still urge you to give the short a chance because even though those characters didn't appear this is definitely the best Disney project in a very long time and I mean it
Why is this not on Disney+ , Disney has too much amazing media on TH-cam - especially for the iconic studio.
It is on Disney +
Yeah!! What he said!!
I watched it on D+.
It's been on Disney +
There has been an awakening. Have you felt it? Moana had the option of going 2D, but the directors opted for 3D because of how much more could be conveyed. Wish was set as 2D, but changed to a 2D/3D combo for the same reasons. We will see an emergence of 2D films at Disney being produced alongside 3D films. Also, Disney is one of numerous animation companies that are equally skilled guys, look to films from them as well if you want to see 2D.
어릴때 디즈니 만화를 진짜 많이 봤어. 일본 애니도 많이 봤는데, 디즈니 애니도 정말 많이봤어. 디즈니 애니도 많이해줬어. 정말 재밌게 봤었다.
You guys should do something for Pixar with this
Where can i watch this if i don't have disney plus?
The early disney movies didn't have high lengths thought highest length was 83 minutes
I like how there was no “hurr di durr di durr, didn’t this movie suck?”
The problem with that approach would be that too many films would be lumped in with that, and I’d rather see no films at all get take thats.
Today's Cartoons and movies are more about making sure they are "inclusive" than creating masterpieces. It's not even just animated movies nowadays, but there are also a lot of other movies, including an unnecessary or destroying continuation of franchises.

I and my grandkids grew up on Disney. I watched the trailer several times, but can someone explain to me why wasn’t Toy Story, Finding Nemo and the Incredibles characters not in the Once Upon a Studio. I wonder if they are related to PIXAR??
Pixar stuff
I cried watching this!! No WOKE garbage or hidden messages that I could see, JUST PURE DISNEY!! I hope that this terrible noise of WOKISM is OVER and that Disney does great things like this short forever!! Also is there a way to purchase that Group Photo??
Come here, are you homophobic?!
No "Song of the South" animation, sadly
I hope they remake don bluth’s Thumbelina in CGI animation for the 30th anniversary 🌷🧚🏻♀️
Do they own the rights to that?
@@yosefdemby8792 the rights are now owned by The Walt Disney Company after they acquired most of 21st Century Fox (including 20th Century Fox).
And I hope that The Pagemaster and The Lion King are gonna be both 30th anniversary celebration, since 1990's!!!
Amphibia the Movie see and Gummi Bears reboot and Gummi Bears Sunni Gummi the movie live action 2023 or 2024
What nobody remembers is when they gutted the entire 2d animation crew in favour of CGI animation. Plus most animation was done in trailers on a lot . The magical hat studio was not liked by the animators. So to show this hat yet again is kinda of a slap in face to 2d animation. Studio managers were bean counters not creative artists. Opinions vary 🎉
Vhs Disney movies more free whiching in your house now days then Disney plus
See, Disney. This is what we all want. No woke. No identity politics. Just fantasy and magic. Go back to your roots and for the love of all things good and holy -- stay there.
Great video VHS movies more free whiching in your house now days then Disney plus and people like myself are buying VCR players cleaning tapes vhs movies offline now days everything proven when they come in my house they become free for ever until I get rid of them
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
They used to cherish the magic and life of these films... Now, it's just a soulless husk with no real meaning or reason to be here other than profit. It's the sad reality that seems to get worse on not just Disney's end, but everyone is facing the same issues.
