    I has these boats very often used.
    The first before 2010 was not so good in rough waters.
    Then the Factory modified the design and made it wider and longer.
    Now with this modifyed design, its a big difference, explicit in rough waters.
    We still have 3 of these boats of different ages, that we can compare.
    I love this newer Boat
    "Pioner Multi III".
    PS: HDPE can lasting up to 50 years depending on the ingredients of the Mould and how you use it, with almost zero maintenance.

    Great idea, up to a point. That point is, after building, a supposedly watertite hull, then go and drill a bunch of screw holes in it makes no sense to me. Maybe I overlooked a step or something, but, I wouldn’t want it with any holes drilled below the top of the transom. And I don’t like the front drop down gate, but, that is a terrific idea for scuba, swimmers, etc., for water climbing aboard.

      The whole stern design is bad... must have been wanting to minimize plywood usage. Doesn't look like optimal for good energy transfer to these untrained eyes. Too bad as everything forward is really nice.

      It,s UV stabilized so it take a good heat, but i dont know if in very hot climate.I have a 10 ft with a 9,8 but it,s here in Norway and colder.My last one lasted in 11 years, out whole year and never trouble with the boat.It got stolen so i no have a 10 dark line with the dark Tohatsu 2021 and boat 2020. If in hot climate i think the darkline can be a bit hot in the sun.

      That’s because large Roto moulded products are extremely hard to keep 100% flat by virtue of the material and process. It’s not injection moulding, the tolerances are wider and more difficult to control. I can’t speak for boats but I paddle some pretty nice moulded kayaks which are fantastic quality.

    2 questions:
    1) why using LDPE and not HDPE (which seems much stronger)?
    2) why sailing boat are not (or rarely?) made in polyethynene ? Polyethynene would be perfect since it's nearly indestructible, and super easy to repair (we can "weld" it).
    Is it linked to the cost of production? Or what else?

    • @MrSunrise-
      @MrSunrise- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2) I talked to a boat dealer about this. There are polyethylene systems that do a fine job in this application. They incorporate a blowing agent for the the inner layers and so they are cheap, light and stiff, and basically indestructible - the dealer complained about how hard they were to break apart for disposal; a chainsaw was the only thing they could use. However, people don't want light and indestructible, they want shiny white like fiberglass, and the one thing you can't do with PE is make it shiny white like fiberglass. People are stupid.

      Microplastics don't come from bulk material like this. Virtually all of the plastic that isn't lost fishing gear (which constitutes 40% of the total) comes from 7 rivers in Asia. The real problem microplastics are either tiny manufactured spheres (to alter the rheology of shampoos, soaps and cosmetics, and are now largely banned) or the disintegration of thin films from the aforementioned rivers. This product will stay in one piece until EOL, and then it will be recycled or buried. Try to learn something about a subject before shooting your mouth off.

      Why? Polyethylene is a high-temperature thermoplastic. All the gasses have been removed from the resin. There is literally nothing flashing out of the resin. The powder they fill the mold with has been ground to a consistent size and the fines removed (required to get the right flow characteristics in the mold) so you don't even have dust.

    Ultimately all this is going to end as particules in the bottom of the ocean then in our plates, in animal food, on glaciers and forests everywhere.
    Don' want to blame men working there and the technological feat … but there's gotta be a way. The more so that I'm sure those who have such abilities to create objects are also able to make more planet friendly objects …

    • @MrSunrise-
      @MrSunrise- 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it isn't. When it reaches the end of it's life, it is pulled out, cut up and either recycled as plastic decking (yay!) or buried.

    • @vincent7520
      @vincent7520 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How many artifacts that should have been pulled out and lie in the bottom of the sea?
      Ask the deep sea…
      Then again burying them is no solution either : this end up in the food chain.
      May I remind you that top of said chain is usually man, sometimes lion or shark?

      Pioner is a norwegian company. Do you really think, that that they dont care for their workers? They have more or less the highest labor safety standards in europe! The guys are working with PE not with PVC. Big difference!

    • @robertjanko6709
      @robertjanko6709 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AEON. Thanks for the info! A swedish friend has a Pioner 13 and even after 20 years outside (with a tarp over) it looks like brand new. HDPE is also used for the Coleman canoes. Its almost unbreakable. So these boats last very much longer than a fiberglass boat, the production process is less harmfull for the environment and if you have a crack you can weld it on your own.

    so basically a plastic boat. Good luck that thing making it more then 5 years in the Phoenix AZ heat. Ill stick with metal or fiberglass.

    • @MrSunrise-
      @MrSunrise- 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the right additive package, Phoenix is a cinch. (My wife designed additive packages). You'll need extra UV stabilizer and the normal amounts of anti-oxidants; stick with light colors or go without to make it more comfortable in the desert sun. Talk to Ingenia - they have offices in Houston.
