I may have to add a jazz pickguard like that to my gretsch. I use my pinky as a pivot point like you do which works well close to the bridge since I can rest it on the cone cover but doesn't work closer to the neck where I prefer to do my fingerpicking.
@@WhoBeSilly Hey glad I could help ! Incidentally I'm back to this video a year after leaving this comment to hone my bottleneck skills and learn a few open D licks. Our friend takatsugu shioya made a beautiful rendition. Wish I had a resonator but my Guild parlor guitar will do just fine. Happy playing too, see you at the crossroads...
Anyone who posts a video that is not in standard tuning has a duty to state the tuning up front. Imagine if I played some weirdly tuned piano and kept it a secret. Lame.
@@pattymulligan2389. That includes you Watson- I and many other players can play slide in standard and open tuning with no problem- as a matter of fact I switch back and forth when performing
2023 and still the only other version I'll listen to besides the OG. Not jut repeating it but really playing it.

Hi, great tune, what's the pickguard made of on that guitar?
Thank you so much 😊
I think it’s original national pickguard
@@takatsugushioya2584 Yes it is indeed, but is it made of some kind of early plastic? Wondered if you knew.
Can anyone show me how to do this part? 0:52.
yep... came a bit.
Excellent ! What tuning you using?
Very good ear for melody. Try to slow down to keep tempo sloooow to get that saaad saaaad blues feel ...
Alan Meilke ....drink.a pint of whiskey...gave your kady cheat on u...then prove it...
Excellent! What is the brand of your resonator guitar? Looks cool!
What key are you playing in, open D or open G ?
Cargo open D
I just saw in the remarks its open D
Hi, vestapol tuning ?
Open D turning
original bottleneck!
A pick guard on a metal guitar and not even using a pick - but why ?

if you can't tell this isn't in standard tuning maybe you should switch instruments...try the maracas
hey slide playing IS in non standard tuning. wow. people need to think b4 they post

@@laikynsdad. Right on - if you can’t tell the difference you shouldn’t be attempting to play slide
You're playing it too fast
