    Lovely pacing and great footage. I like the way you've captured the ordinary and have allowed the viewer to get a sense the atmosphere in the different locations. Such a refreshing change from the violent and obtrusive tv/"movie" mentality. Thanks for this upload, it was a pleasure to watch.

    I visited Paris in May of this year for the first time. Your videos were just so helpful. I was at Montmartre on a Sunday morning and spent the most of the day wandering around enjoying everything.

    Good job with this video. Many years ago I went to Place du Tertre in search of an artist to do a charcoal drawing of a photo of my wife and our dog. After walking around (the artists were out in force that day), I found one and we settled on a price. He told me to go have some coffee and he then went to work. The finished product was brilliant, and resulted in some major brownie points for my wife's husband (that would be moi).

    I was there in the early 60's when I was 7 to 11 years of age. Just like I remembered. The artists, the cobblestone, the Basilica, the tram. So nice to see. Just a boy. Perhaps all I remember is because I was just a boy . . . and troubles were far, far away. Sure nice to see. The Basilica is my next stop on TH-cam. A favorite memory . . . and the Flea Market (as you look at the front) off to the right and behind.

    The syndrome isn't limited to Paris, nor is it limited to specific nationalities.Whenever people have unreasonable expectations, they may be disappointed. Asian visitors to Paris often have extremely unreasonable expectations, because of the hype attached to Paris by media back home, but that's the only particularity.

    @utoobasimo Thanks for the feedback. I actually do try to record the location and shooting date for each video, if the video was shot in one location on one day, or at least I give an approximate date and location. But TH-cam doesn't normally show that information; you have to look at the statistics and then scroll down to see the date, and even then the location doesn't always show. I don't know why TH-cam hides it. This video is exactly one year old, shot on March 7, 2011.

    I lived in France as a student, about 8 or 9 months total. I loved it. But I definitely noticed that the French were skinnier than we are. I think it's partly because the regulations on food out there are more strict, but I also think it's a cultural difference. We'll skip breakfast, grab something quick for lunch, and then cook a huge portion of something very fatty for dinner. The French ate more often, with smaller meals. I think they also ate more side dishes, smaller main courses?

  • @Mxsmanic
    @Mxsmanic  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Most people in France are of normal weight. Sometimes as they get into their fifties and beyond they get a little plump, but the majority remain at a fairly healthy weight for a lifetime. There must be some cultural difference between the U.S. and France that encourages Americans to become obese, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. It's not as simple as junk food or something, since junk food is readily available in France, too.
