"Fisher-Price guitar" perfect description of the aesthetic. I remember when Bullets started showing up in the music store in my town. As a 10-year-old I wasn't sure what I was looking at other than it was different than the Strats and Teles also for sale. (oddly the show - which sold antiques, used ice skates, and guitars - kept the guitars in the cases so you had to lift the top and peek in to see the guitar)

I still have my original mij squier bullet . It was my first electric guitar and Christmas of 1984 was still probably my greatest ! Gtr , a peavey bandit and my uncles original Morley power wah / fuzz . I played , gigged the hell out of it and crazily modified it until my early 20’s, til I was an actual playing out all the time musician and started upgrading .
My son who is 22 now used it as his first electric as well and it’s due for a rebuild yet again .
I’ve got all my dream guitars now including some I’ve built myself and that bullet is still my favorite neck .
I’m sure it’s why I’ve gravitated to teles as an adult .
Mine is the s style with tele neck but scaled down and it was perfect for my 12 yr old hands and frame . Dad played guitar as well and really couldn’t have picked a better first electric for a kid from what was available at the time . Still greatful .
I still keep it strung up for the couch .

I started playing guitar in 1982 at age 14. There was a guitar shop near school and almost everyday after school my friends and I would go to that shop and I saw the Bullet and loved it and wanted one. I never got one though and got an Ibanez Destroyer instead.

One of the best youtube guitar channels of its type here on youtube. I would go so far as to say it is probably one of the best musical instrument channels of all. Anyone with a decent Fender / Squier Bullet guitar knows how good they are. And when they are properly set up they are decent instruments offering great value for money. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

You are 100% correct that fender has always tried really hard to have a variety of affordable, quality entry level guitars...unless you're left handed. Then fender doesn't want your money.
My Sweetwater sales rep told me that he estimates he loses about 10% of his annual potential sales because there isn't anything exciting for lefties. Just the same old same old. We already have those guitars. We aren't going to buy more.

I tried one of the first edition Bullets at my local music store when they first came out. I didn't need one - I already had my 1966 Telecaster (it's been mine now for 45 years), but I was fascinated by the look of it; kind of misshapen, but still with enough 'Tele cool' about it to want to try it. As I recall it was a really nice player, with a great feeling neck.

I must really be one of the few people who really loved that guitar when it came out...
Sure, I've got strats, Teles, and basically anything ever made by Fender ( and I won't mention the other brands ) but I've always loved the "oddball" stuff that nobody is interested in...
That's pretty much how I built my collection because it mostly has affordable unsuccessful guitars like this little thing...
Interestingly most of my guitar playing friends completely laughed about that Bullet or most of the guitars in my collection and have nothing but regrets these days...Go figure...
Great video by the way 👍👍
    Thanks a lot...

They're good guitars, mines solid alder, a amazing neck my luthier wanted to buy off me, he rated it up there with his American strats neck. They're far better guitars than the new fender standards made in Indonesia.

I had the red one with the coil split humbucker way back in the mid eighties. I didn’t know much about anything back then and I used to call it my ‘twin channel’ guitar because the coil split made such a difference in sound. Wish I’d hung on to it. A great punk guitar.

I absolutely loved the last guitar that you showed. This was a really nice video. Thank you for the video and the information. Do you think fender will ever re-issue these?
How long have you been doing the TH-cam channel?
What are some challenges that you had to deal with over the years.
It’s hard when you’re small creator. In the space of TH-cam.
Or my guess is it’s just too saturated.
Do you have any advice for me?

Lead series was a step up from these. Bullets are okay, but look dumb. Made pretty much to the standards of any cheap fenders throughout time. For what it's worth, the Mustang was a superior guitar in all ways, as it really wasn't cheap for what it was supposed to be, a student model.

Bought mine in 81. Just like the first one you showed except it has the ivory body. I completely restored it to new condition last March and it plays amazing. The metal pick guard helps create the most unusual sound Fender ever had. You really need to try the "woman tone" because it may be the best I've ever heard on a Fender.

The market declares new "hidden gems" whenever their previous gems (read: cheap) are no longer affordable. In the '70s it was Juniors. In the '80s it was Jazzmasters and Jaguars. "Good wood" Gibsons, '80s MIJ Fenders, the market soldiers on. CBS Fenders were universally regarded as awful until "player grade" pre-CBS guitars got out of reach; suddenly "there are actually some really great ones." That's not to suggest that this gear isn't good, but it magically only becomes good enough to pay attention to when people are priced out of better options. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I got to play a friend's MIJ Squier Bullet (I can't recall the year, but it looked just like the one you showed at the end). It was fine. Not a life changing experience at all, but it seemed solid and giggable. I'd only get one now if I had one as my first guitar and was on a nostalgia trip. I didn't and I'm not, so I'd probably spend $1k on something else before getting one.... except maybe that humbucker model...lol. That one was pretty cool, I must admit!

Forgive me for being pedantic but it is actually called the Bullet 1. The tele body from '81 was almost always laminated with later, strat-like versions having, mostly, a poplar body.

    • @Annunaki_0517
      @Annunaki_0517 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

No it isn’t. Its a fender “Bullet”. Not a “Bullet 1”. The Numeral “1” in the star on the headstock is a tribute to the old radio phrase “Number one with a bullet”. Check out John Page’s history of the Bullet on the web, he was the Fender designer/product manager who was responsible for the Bullet back in the 80’s. The Bullet was my first guitar (bought new at Manny’s in Nov ‘83) I’ve still got mine and I’m a bit of an expert on this particular model.
