I sing at Mass all of the time because I feel a connection to the all of those in the entire Church from the past to present during song. I sing loud and I try to sign beautifully but my wife and kids let me know that’s not the case! 😂. I remind them we’re not perfect and there’s something to be appreciated in the imperfections of the world. Thank you Fr Brad!
Good Morning Father Doyle! My Dad was a band/choir director at our school. Mom and Dad sang in the church choir and we played different instruments, so we grew up with music and singing. I love all kinds of music 🎶. Have a blessed Happy New Year 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for speaking out today about singing. It does seem as though only the choir should be singing rather than leading us at times in the singing. We've forgotten...singing is praying twice! It's worshipping God as though we were in heaven. God bless you.

After my wife and I were baptized in 2006, I began to serve as a lector, I told the spiritual leader that while I have a decent voice for reading I just can’t sing and he said you shouldn’t think that way sing as loud and proud as you can. If your voice is not perfect that’s God‘s fault. Give him all you’ve got😂🙏🏻❤️
At a retreat a priest once said that God gave us our voice and that he deserves to hear it back, especially if not so good-as loud as possible🤣😂😅I do not have a good voice but sing at mass, well maybe not so loud. Fr. Doyle you have a beautiful & pleasant voice, love hearing you chant!

My late husband was a Cantor at our parish church. His tenor voice was an amazingly, beautiful gift from God and he willingly shared it. Many people would tell him they loved to hear him sing. He would encourage everyone to sing, join together "singing is praying twice", Once someone asked him what was the difference between a singer and a cantor. "Singer's sing, Cantors pray" was the reply he always gave. He was an incredible husband, father and grandfather. I got to have him for almost 55 years, looking forward to the day when I hear him sing with the Angels.

This is true. The same could apply to confession. James 5:16 says Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. No priest is mentioned here.
Oh my goodness, when father mentioned the national anthem, I was thinking of the time Christina Aguilera messed up the words when she sang the national anthem. It was too fancy.

I love to sing at Mass (and the car) and if I happen to have laryngitis, it feels like I'm not participating at Mass...there's a void.
