Larry Thorn is very much respected in the US Army, he was a early member of the Green Berets. His remains were found in the early 2000’s and he was interned in Arlington cemetery outside of Washington DC. He was the inspiration for the character John Wayne played in the movie The Green Berets. His name lives on forever in the US Army.

Despite, that whole Finland was fighting against Russia/Soviet Union, against millions and millions of people = communists. Never forget. Long live Finland!
I want to think war stories by a person. As they fought they were doing their job/duty. Most are not communist/facist not even patriotic as they fight. But great warrior Törni, perkele! :D. @Alex Adamson I love the Finns, but it's doubtful they could've won against the Soviets once winter was over. Their main advantages would be lost, meanwhile the Soviets were reforming their military and better military commanders took over which is why they were able to push through the Mannerheim line, ending the war. Still good that they fought, so they only lost 13% of their land instead of all of it.
Alex Adamson you do know mate the main reason why finland went to the peace table with the soviets was because the red army finally managed to to take most of the Mannerheim Line and was nearing more of a open front line

There is also a korean soldier, Yang Kyoungjong, who started in the imperial Japanese military, got captured by the soviet union and was in a POW camp, when the Germans attacked, the soviets forced the POWs to fight for them. Yang was again captured by the Germans and fought in the wehrmacht. There is a movie about him called my way
