I think DP RC had to go because in a high damage game like Strive, having a consistently safe wakeup option like that was invaluable. In older games it wasn't such a big deal because the damage was lower so the risk/reward wasn't as pronounced. I also just didn't like the feeling where I felt disadvantaged against someone even though I was the one who knocked THEM down!

nago is a "big body" at low blood, so he did benefit from the insane burst gains. now that they've nerfed that bit he's gotten weaker in that department. his WWA was also quite good for round start because while you can 2K his DP now, you couldn't do the same with WWA. you'd usually recover in time to block the WWA, but he had guard crush so still a win for him. so WWA isn't a strong option for his already strong round start anymore. then there's the fact that zoners like johnny, testament, and axl getting stronger makes things more difficult for him. though this largely depends on if people start playing those characters more.

All i know is that im still stuck on the oversrive combo mission and that fighting games are harder than i thought. Aka Major skill issue on my part.
if you are starting out then what the top level meta looks like will probably be completely irrelevant also i suggest just hopping into online matches in between completing missions the experience you get from playing people and mashing buttons is invaluable
If you're still having trouble with the overdrive combo mission, try doing it with Axl. It's much easier than other characters I tried. Don't feel discouraged, I'm also a beginner and couldn't do that mission with my mains even though I learned longer combos no problem. That mission is just super hard with some characters.
As a pretty mid-tier player, I definitely like the changes. Opponents can't "one gimmick" that shit so easily. Also, it's a close race between Johnny and Testament on those buffs. Johnny's still high risk high reward, but now can dash like a boss and gets solid combo damage. So nice! And Testament can properly zone! Succubus tele now feels natural for staying at range and full screen arbiter means two things: you can layer projectiles and keep succubus on screen for options. Test's throw is also scary now. Both of these characters feel fleshed out and like they have options and I'm here for it.
Something I wish that they did was removing the free mixup on DP RC without getting rid of DP RC. Making DPs beat throws is also going to really change how pressure is played in the game, and make safejumps a way bigger deal.
Zato probably still sucks at top level but for me at mid level, these changes helped the character feel alot less punishing. Although I wouldn’t complain if I got more buffs in the next patch… so keep saying he sucks :)
I think the death of DPRC is gonna kill bridget, unless they buff her or add her a new move to compensate for it. bridget was not top tier to begin with, so she loses a lot from it and all the low tiers being buffed while bridget being nerfed is gonna make her really harder to play with. now, most of the time, you can only do 6p, which makes bridget way more predictable. anyone who do not play bridget cannot understand how important DPRC was to bridget. meanwhile, characters like sol or ky will remain top tier even with the loss of DPRC. I'm happy for the wild assault nerfs though.

zato downplayers are the funniest thing ever to me. you still have bullshit mixups, comically long and quick to start pressure, and fully functional tools all around. just because you can't turn your opponent's computer off because they blocked a 5p doesn't mean he's the worst character in the game.
Overall a really good patch, finally makes celestial fun to play in again. Unfortunately they did not remove Slayer's knees; I am leaving a negative review as I type this.
