As a chipp main, I don't really mind fighting happy chaos as my gameplan consists of doing a line of pure Columbian cocaine before every set and that's normally enough to get past his zone:)
A good chipp player only needs one line to keep up with the sheer speed of their path-of-exile's-skill-tree-sized flowcharts. Bad ones have to take 3 or 4 and start doing really fucking weird shit every time they get lost in their own pot of sauce.
As a Leo main my gameplan against happy chaos is fuck it we ball because charging a gun wielding maniac with nothing but two swords and the power of survivor’s guilt is exactly what Leo would do
@@fushiisweepMaybe reduce his immediate accuracy way down when ball isn’t on. He doesn’t seem like a calm, collected sharpshooter, so the magic lock-on being the only way to reliably hit a target feels lore friendly and it would reduce the amount of gun-based neutral invalidation so long as the opponent can avoid the ball. I don’t play much HC though so I don’t know if this would actually help or what
@@fushiisweep I think the main problem with this character is how gun works in neutral. I think Curse should be very strong, but it's way too easy to access. Steady aim needs a hard nerf. It should have a decent chance of missing if the opponent is moving fast or in the air while not cursed (could be rng, feel like it's part of his identity at this point). This way they can't just set up guaranteed curse all the time and will have to take risks. Not being able to jump in this MU without being put into HC's win condition is dumb. Curse should function the same, but make the ball clash with other projectiles and/or disjoints and disappear. I think these are very fair nerfs. His offense will still be really strong, but he'll actually have to work hard to get it started instead of just getting guaranteed curse off a steady aim shot that you blocked. Idk, this is my main gripe. I don't mind being put in the blender, but I don't like how easily he puts me there. I'm sure there are other ways too, but I feel like this is fair. He'll still have overwhelming offense and really good buttons, but his full screen presence won't be as annoying and his win condition will be harder to access.
I came up with the best defence pretty early upon his release, it was the refuse to play that character. Worked perfectly, it was plus on press and it was an infinite and it never stopped working
Noticed a few inaccuracies or missing context that I haven't seen brought up in many other comments, so adding here: - 2:48 Chances of ATR being able to hit at the first available frame are calculated specifically against stationary opponents not currently in hitstun or blockstun. Dustloop also notes that the chances are closer to 35% in "Stats for nerds" despite saying 30% in an earlier section. - 2:58 Negative edge is not the *only* way for HC to fire. It is possible to tap H to bring out the gun, and tap H again to fire. This method may be preferable if one wants to press 2H to Cancel Aim without having to spend a bullet by releasing H. - 7:53 236 ATR is +3 on block, not +2
The negative edge thing is true. You can bring the revolver out with 5HS. It won’t fire until the next time that you let go of 5HS once it is fully out. In your example of tapping 5HS to bring it out then tapping it again to fire, you actually aren’t firing until you let go of it on the second tap. To test this, you can bring it out with 5HS, then tap 5HS again but not let go of the button. Fire doesn’t come out here. TLDR; You don’t have to immediately negative edge it, but fire will only come out on the release of the button, not when you press it. Which is still technically a form of negative edge since it’s working on the release of the button.
The real reason I hate fighting Happy Chaos is that despite the matchup being quite fun in theory as Testament (possession makes for a fun counter to Gun if used properly and means you don't have to dashblock), I end up getting pissed off at how absolutely dog most Chaos players are when you take away the one thing they know how to do.
Also probably the most annoying thing about him that wasn’t even touched on but is absolutely a problem is that he can shoot while he whiffs normals. Considering the math on the rng gunshot having a 1/3 chance of hitting you whiff punishing this character is sometimes impossible, and with curse he’s basically plus on whiff. In a way it’s the most anti fighting game ability to exist cause whiffing means leaving yourself open to counterattack but he literally negates that concept entirely.
"He can shoot while he whiffs normals" Other character can do this. "1/3 chance of hitting you" Completely wrong. "With curse he is basically plus on whiff" No he isn't. I love you people who can't be bothered to learn a matchup or even practice the character in training mode then complain online about pure bullshit and lies.
Honestly, his ability is just injustice Batman 's trait but on crack. I feel if they just limit to how many times he can shoot at once, or even restrict him shooting while doing attacks
the problem is Batman didn't lose anything to use that trait. Part of the reason the gun has to be strong is it's his entire HeavySlash button plus like... 4 specials and 1 super revolve around it. With the other super reloading your bullets. If it's nerfed even the slightest bit too much he becomes completely useless. He's already pretty hard to play.
As a HC main, I play him because he’s legitimately fun for me, even if he’s technically the hardest. A lot of people play him because of the “meta” since it’s such an easy win, but that method makes the game boring for me. I do more conversions and close up combos with moderate zoning, but if my opponent can’t touch me because of one infinite gun loop for the whole match… that’s not a fight, it’s target practice.
Hi, I'm a HC main. I found this video really good on how HC is good. Not many people bring it up.(For the videos I have seen). But that playing HC is hard. Also I hope many people don't actually think mag dumping is a viable option. Right after you do it, you will rather have no concentration or have little or no resources to do a follow up attack, or any defense option. The HC skill gap will show you how a good HC plays and how a bad HC plays really quick. Also I laughed like a madman when you said install.
A good bit of people like to bring up how HC is hard, usually as a way to cope about his balance. He's more unorthodox than hard, but people do make the mistake of thinking he's pickup and play
I'm currently learning him.... Its actually pretty fun and gross to play with, but against? anyone can relate to hating playing against him but cuz "he too broken" and i've come up with some nerfs and tweaks for his kit to make it more "balanced" in my eyes: 1.- Reduce the number of bullets on the chamber: 6 -> 4/3 2.- Make roll invulnerable but only the roll animation, when he stands he's vulnerable again 3.- Make clone USEFUL... how? mmhhmm.... Honestly i dont know maybe add block multi-hit properties. 4.- Make Steady shot Guard Break ONLY IF the oppenent has curse... If not cursed, then just make it a +8 but no guard break. 5.- Curse last shorter by 2 seconds. 6.- Make Deus Ex Machina (air OK). 7.- Make 5D unable to shoot the gun 8.- Make the "pulling out the blicky" animation slower so he needs to have the gun out just to pressure, but if the opponent has curse have it the og way. 9.- reduce + frames of shot by 23 to 15 You can add or substract any one of these for a HC rework
I have a lot of experience with HC. There are usually a few reasons why people don’t like fighting him. 1. His zoning. Even though it’s been nerfed to the point where it’s mainly good when he has positive, it’s still pretty uninteractive. It also has a lot of different rules that you have to learn for it based on what he has. Is the opponent cursed, does he have normal focus buff, how many bullets does he have, amount of concentration, is clone out, etc. All of these completely change how you have to approach the zoning. This is a lot to learn to fight a single aspect of 1 character and most players aren’t gonna even try to learn how to deal with it. Also, you would have to learn his execution just to lab it. 2. Most people play in a way where they focus on the reward aspect of their character and not the potential risk associated with said options. This is really problematic against a character who regularly out rewards your character like HC. This isn’t as much of a problem because of wild assault though. In season 1/2, it was big due to the differences in conversion abilities. 3. As LK said, he requires the most of his opponent. As mentioned above, you have to learn about his zoning but you also have to learn how mitigate the strength of roll, be able to block 5D on reaction semi-consistently and learn the ins and outs of the focus buff/concentration works. You have to do all of that just to have a chance of fighting the character on somewhat equal ground. If you can’t block 5D then you are basically gonna lose as soon as he gets on offense. So when HC players say that you are losing because you don’t know the matchup, it’s partially true. However; the matchup is difficult to learn and on top of that, he is still one of the best characters in the game. So this leads to him being a character who is pretty dominant at mid level play while still being one of the best at high level play.
As a bedman player. Hc doesn't really bother me. Everyone else locks me down just as bad, if he zones me i can usually catch him with a spike before he starts and then make him approach, and since he doesn't have a dp, i can actually run my oki after getting my turn back instead of having to time a grab in 9 frames to catch the first dp rrrc attempt, and then cry as im now in a 5050 on my own oki
Happy Chaos is the equivalent of Geras in mk, he is fundamentally or rather mechanically broken and that's something that can be difficult to nerf since their entire identity is to circumvent the games mechanics
I have infinitely more hatred for bridget and axl than chaos for some reason maybe good happy's dont exist below floor 10 but I just never get as frustrated fighting them as I do those two
I think the biggest issue with HC is that he's so alien and unintuitive to fight, you have to learn so many different things and because strive has no replay takeover fucking please arcsys I'm begging. you have to either learn how to execute all the shit he's doing to you to practice against it, or get a hc player willing to actually teach you how to fight him. I have fought some hc players at similar skill to me that have been very fun sets and I definitely hate a few other characters more (Especially Nago) but I do think there's some very big fundamental design flaws with HC.
I am suprised you didn't mention the air stomp he has it like chun li that move is annoying to me lol but other then that i don't mind fighting happy chaos i got used to it to me it like gulie matchup you walk and block you get to some point avoid the green orb if you can throwing at you get can.t get good aim with out it still this season not so bad compared season 2 so broken it was painful get knockdown back to neutral gun time oof lol.
What I don't like about HC is he is very singleplayery on offense, like Asuka and Zato. Defense against him is a bit long for taste. Maybe challenging to change that about him. Less bullets/ less focus + other buffs?
I've always thought the idea of a regular ass gun in a fighting game is really funny so when he came out I was excited when I heard the new character is gun man. When I actually saw it in game though it wasnt funny it just felt mean.
As a Sol my main gameplan against HC is winning at roundstart with RPS 6H/Fafnir/BR/2S/j.H and getting them to the wall ASAP since its the only chance at winning I have. Would take HC over Asuka any time of day tho
with strive being my first ever fighting game (and real game in general tbh) and me mainly getting it to play as HC because i fell in love with him when i first saw him, its extremely embarrassing that hes supposedly so hard to play against while im really bad at the game and constantly get my ass beaten lmfao 😭
I started guilty gear by playing happy chaos and I gotta say, set myself up for failure since I learned to play chaos and not guilty gear. I also didn't dedicate 110% of my time to him and played other characters as well so I'm not even good enough with him to compete above floor 8 haha (I'm dying, lacking fundamentals, and riddled with horrible habits)
I was in the same boat, I seriously started playing with jacko and was only able to make it to floor 7 and knew nothing because she doesn't really interact with system mechanics too well and then I switched to sin and learned the game. I picked up asuka and played him for a full day and got a total of 4 wins
Happy Chaos made me Dragon Uninstall the game. imo the biggest example of "some archetypes should never get to be S-tier". Release Sol was busted as hell but at least it was fun to fight him, felt kind of like a boss fight. Fighting Happy Chaos feels like doing taxes.
HC is so broken that I can consistently go from floor 8 to 10 using him WITHOUT spending any bullets. His options are decent or even good on their own, but add in the gun and he becomes one of the strongest characters in Strive.
i haven't fought many hc in ggst like maybe 2 or 3 but they weren't too good at the game so i dunno why people hate him personally but i can understand why but hc is op he's like a rubix cube, the requirement to play him properly is not just understanding the character but also do you have the mental capacity above a toddler and can you do the combo in the middle of a fight and do you have fast enough reaction to do the combo right while not getting destroyed, like if you can't manage to reload gain back focus and still have you fingers work right after doing it multiple times you need to make sure your enemy can't just straight up deny you to play the game, and you have to remember what the enemy can do while remembering what you can do and not run out of resource and possibly lose the game, playing hc requires the player to not suck at everything that is needed to play the game normally while also being able to multitask like i played the game for a total of 4 days i can barely hit a ky combo without hitting the wrong button and doing it at the wrong time causing it to flop and vs another player just being able to walk is like a privilege playing hc is like playing a different game from everyone else and im just not near that level to even imagine using him right (btw mag dumping is inefficient as hell if your not at least mid screen or got no meter cause you gonna run out of both resource and get your ass beat) in short playing hc is like trying to solve a rubix cube without having a mental breakdown cause you couldn't even get 1 line of the same color so at least trying winning a game as him before talking bs not a round a GAME
Yeah he is pretty hard, i'm a new player and had to lab for 3 days with him before i could even start ranked (got stuck on F7) while gio took me 2 hours and got to F9 easily, i also get my finger destroyed in 1 hour of playing with him
I don't play the Guilty Gear, but I kinda wish that HC's battle mechanics were built in a way that makes Nagoriyuki his most effective counter (for plot reasons).
i am not bias at all but fighting chaos is always pleasant for me, its like "oh my god what the fuck is this guy doing and how can i make this better" even more so when chaos ditto chaos ditto is the funnest matchup in the game
Unlike other characters that need set play to get started, his is more based on getting hit once . That combined with his curse & long range guard crush he is effectectly good no matter the range . His weakness should have been bad buttons and no defs to protect himself but sadly Arc has a hard on for giving all their zoners Really good buttons and DPs . Chaos , Johnny & asuka all have this skip neutral thing that takes away from the one thing all fighting game players love : "Interaction" . I wont say the obvious "I can only block , so this is boring and bad game" but that does not mean that its the only problem because what makes that worse is lack of counter play or options to fight back . Besides needing character with certain tools to counter them , characters without them are just out of luck and thats not even worst part . Their only counter play aside from some character specific choices , Its to essentially Beat them to the point where they cant play otherwise u cant play the game . Not really the best strat is it and its not even full-proof considering some struggle to close distance to do so. At the end of the day Strive is a good game but a shame that this blue smurf is very annoying to deal with along with asuka and sometimes a really good johnny but otherwise . Everyone else is more manageable .
I think the largest problem for me is HC that he gets to force his gameplan on you no questions asked. I don’t think HC is OP, but I never liked playing against them. Other projectiles have a lot of interesting counter play, but gun doesn’t really. Your only option is really just block and move forward. He does crumble on defense, but that’s the type of balancing I stopped playing strive for. I don’t think “He gets to run over you until you touch him and you get to run over him” is very interesting gameplay, as both players are barely interacting with each other. You’re either getting destroyed or he is getting destroyed. I didn’t really find any of this fun, and I had it easy b/c I was a Chipp main and he could close in on HC much easier than the rest of the cast.
why dont people play chaos: "hc is hard" well, that is part of it, but I also think some people dont want to subject their opponents to the lamest non interactive character on the market
Fwiw the reason hes not as played is he has a metric fuck ton of manually timed links in an already demanding game with 2 extra resources to manage. Roll mix? Manually timed and on 6S has to be timed for a gap in the first place 5D mix? Manually timed for grounded max frame advantage or 6S air hit in corner/ch Button gunshot 214S[H] gc? Manually timed for each different button lol And what's worse is doing the fun shit? Such as his offense? Is legitimately harder than playing him as footsie zoning monster with strong conversions Especially if you are going for his optimal fast rc j2K mixups. Then putting the gun away during overheads into cS kara 236S

how tf u gonna reduce his ammo count
it's a revolver
you could swap out the cylinder, but then that means basically redesigning the whole gun
So this leads to him being a character who is pretty dominant at mid level play while still being one of the best at high level play.

tldr he a fast-ish rush down character that have a gun for both long range and fast close range combat...that can also use for zoning BECAUSE IS A GUN
it is because I physically cannot dash block
As a nago main i just close my eyes and spam all and every special i can and pray for good 50 50 rng
As a Ky main, I just stun dipper in and watch as Happy Chaos doesn't know how to deal with Foudre Arc pressure. It's what Ky would've wanted.
7:50 236S is +3, not +2 right?
someone in ur steam said gekko arc
I am suprised you didn't mention the air stomp he has it like chun li that move is annoying to me lol but other then that i don't mind fighting happy chaos i got used to it to me it like gulie matchup you walk and block you get to some point avoid the green orb if you can throwing at you get can.t get good aim with out it still this season not so bad compared season 2 so broken it was painful get knockdown back to neutral gun time oof lol.
ok he belongs in the timeout corner with Elphelt
There was another video with this title a year ago but i dont know what happened to it. The creator also did a Gio video and was making a Nago video!
Tell Daisuke to make Dust auto-reholster. That is not too much to ask :')
As a happy chaos main, yes I hate myself
Still fun tho
10:00 This should be an entire video
Tldr: skill issue + l + ratio + Counter + positive bonus + rc + axl bomber
6:00 dont think i didnt catch that barney reference
What I don't like about HC is he is very singleplayery on offense, like Asuka and Zato. Defense against him is a bit long for taste. Maybe challenging to change that about him. Less bullets/ less focus + other buffs?
Happy Chaos gun, meet Potemkin Hammer Fall super armor.
ok so it still doesn't work like 60 percent of the time but at least you can get close
I don't even play this game, but I'm still here watching the video for some reason. x)
Man this is an awesome video.
This is a weird ask, but can I ask to copy this script to comment on Cagliostro in GB VS?
0:17
What is this soundtrack .
Someone help pls
As a Sol Badguy main I have no problem fighting Happy Chaos because I'm a Sol Badguy main.
Gee i remember Evo Finals was a snoozefest thanks to Happy Chaos. that was embarrassing.
So i havent been playing much GG recently... When did asuka become a problem?
That ending was so real lmfao
i like to fight happy chaos cause i get to see how fast they can wall break me after hitting me once (record rn is 6 seconds)
as a johnny main im glad to meet HC
Why I love playing happy chaos
l dont hate fighting happy chaos. They are my daily meal! zoners? l love it! *insert screams of agony while hearing the fuujin SFX on repeat*
Why couldn't the make roll vulnerable to low attacks as a weakness so hc players have to think not to abuse it?
3:50 he stong
You know why you Joker wins neutral in Smash Bros?
Gun
what if Happy Chaos lost his concentration as he gets hit like Vergil does in dmc?
The wall stick round start TH-cam tutorial thoooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☠️☠️
I've always thought the idea of a regular ass gun in a fighting game is really funny so when he came out I was excited when I heard the new character is gun man. When I actually saw it in game though it wasnt funny it just felt mean.
🥱
As a Sol my main gameplan against HC is winning at roundstart with RPS 6H/Fafnir/BR/2S/j.H and getting them to the wall ASAP since its the only chance at winning I have. Would take HC over Asuka any time of day tho
with strive being my first ever fighting game (and real game in general tbh) and me mainly getting it to play as HC because i fell in love with him when i first saw him, its extremely embarrassing that hes supposedly so hard to play against while im really bad at the game and constantly get my ass beaten lmfao 😭
Happy Chaos being top tier is canon
As a nago main, yes you are completely right, there is zero fault in this vid 😭
HC made me switch off of Nagoriyuki and learn Giovanna. Not even because it's a bad matchup, I just hate the way I had to play.
Bruh I was playing Zato and I've literally never been more annoyed than fighting Chaos
I suddenly want to learn this character
HC is so broken that I can consistently go from floor 8 to 10 using him WITHOUT spending any bullets. His options are decent or even good on their own, but add in the gun and he becomes one of the strongest characters in Strive.
I can easily get to floor 10 by megafist and potekim buster or just spamming far s and bandit bringer with Sol not a good argument if you ask me
I can get to floor 10 by spamming taunt
Your argument isnt really serious
fair enough, but do try out bulletless HC sometime it’s pretty fun to lab combos that don’t rely on using his gimmick resources @@atbtrendy9932
What took you so long to make this video?
Have you considered simulstreaming
i haven't fought many hc in ggst like maybe 2 or 3 but they weren't too good at the game so i dunno why people hate him personally but i can understand why but hc is op he's like a rubix cube,
the requirement to play him properly is not just understanding the character but also do you have the mental capacity above a toddler and can you do the combo in the middle of a fight and do you have fast enough reaction to do the combo right while not getting destroyed,
like if you can't manage to reload gain back focus and still have you fingers work right after doing it multiple times you need to make sure your enemy can't just straight up deny you to play the game,
and you have to remember what the enemy can do while remembering what you can do and not run out of resource and possibly lose the game,
playing hc requires the player to not suck at everything that is needed to play the game normally while also being able to multitask
like
i played the game for a total of 4 days i can barely hit a ky combo without hitting the wrong button and doing it at the wrong time causing it to flop and vs another player just being able to walk is like a privilege playing hc is like playing a different game from everyone else and im just not near that level to even imagine using him right (btw mag dumping is inefficient as hell if your not at least mid screen or got no meter cause you gonna run out of both resource and get your ass beat) in short playing hc is like trying to solve a rubix cube without having a mental breakdown cause you couldn't even get 1 line of the same color so at least trying winning a game as him before talking bs not a round a GAME
Yeah he is pretty hard, i'm a new player and had to lab for 3 days with him before i could even start ranked (got stuck on F7) while gio took me 2 hours and got to F9 easily, i also get my finger destroyed in 1 hour of playing with him
it could just be that i'm lower level, but i main elphelt and if i just keep pressure they die pretty quick =D
I’ll be honest. He’s probably in the most balanced state he’ll ever be in. HC from his release till now is definitely an improvement.
0:17 all off an otg?!?!
i didnt realize how low the player count was .-. is it actually that low rn?
Pls someone, count the times HE HAS A GUN was said.
This vid has convinced me to main Chaos
The number one character I hate to fight the most as a Sol main. Second only to Johnny now that he’s out.
Fwiw the reason hes not as played is he has a metric fuck ton of manually timed links in an already demanding game with 2 extra resources to manage.
Roll mix? Manually timed and on 6S has to be timed for a gap in the first place
5D mix? Manually timed for grounded max frame advantage or 6S air hit in corner/ch
Button gunshot 214S[H] gc? Manually timed for each different button lol
And what's worse is doing the fun shit? Such as his offense? Is legitimately harder than playing him as footsie zoning monster with strong conversions
Especially if you are going for his optimal fast rc j2K mixups. Then putting the gun away during overheads into cS kara 236S
Fellas, is it a skill issue if i lose to a chaos?
Am I crazy for thinking Chaos shouldn't get meter (or get very little) for hitting a blocking opponent? Especially from full screen?
Now make "why you hate fighting Jack-O'"
at 3:53 you spelled strong as stong twice
The way i deal with happy chaos is simple... h disc until happy chaos is most definitely NOT happy.
