Thank goodness i95 is a 6 lane highway down in that area. Could you imagine if it only had two lanes? Back in the 70's it was only a three lane highway with toll booths in Westport. The rush hour traffic back then felt like what 10am traffic is today. There were fewer cars, but we still complained. In a few years from now, traffic will only get worse. Both my husband and I lived in Fairfield county, but moved to the middle of the state. There is no traffic, and we can get our grocery shopping done round trip in under a half hour. Living near the beach in FC, it took almost 40 minutes to get to the stores, and we didn't live far.

I'm sure that will change at some point, but for now I'm not complaining. Prior to living in Wolcott, we lived in waterbury for a few years. Our taxes went up every year and we had to argue with the city that our house had not been updated or didn't have the amenities the city claimed. An appraiser came out to assess and every time the city readjusted our taxes to go back to where they were the previous year. Every year we had to stay on top of the city, but imagine all the poor people that don't know to do that. With the tax jumps every year people get stuck in cities and it's harder to move when you can't save.

There really wasn't much of a difference between the two. My sister wore her regular clothes and she and I had the same type of wardrobe. After I graduated, I got a job in Fairfield and started hanging out with the Fairfield crowd. They were all really nice and I had met and hung out with a lot of the same people my sister already knew.
Well, you are 100 %, right Everyone in Connecticut is not rich. I've lived in Connecticut all my life. South central to be exact, And that's 71 plus years right now. And you want to know the truth about Connecticut? If you're a tree hugging liberal, that's trying as hard as you can. To become Communist and socialist come on over. I wish I could get the hell out of here move to some free state where they don't restrict law abiding citizens With laws that no criminal even considers following.
Connecticut sucks. The people are mostly nasty cop callers and they will not mind their own business. If you do well don't tell anyone! Very jealous. Oh and most restaurants are closed and bankrupt. And you forgot property tax on home and car and boat and anything else you own.
CT's climate is one of the best in the country. Winters here are a joke. Compared to the Midwest or northern New England, the cold seasons are a breeze. You definitely have an accent. Lol CT and RI accents are very similar in Eastern CT and the more West you go the more like NYC it gets, and up along the CT River and in the middle it's pretty neutral, though it's still there, and the more north you go, the closer you get to Mass and it reflects there. (Just for the record, Mass and RI suck -Love Connecticut lol)
Whalley pizza and house st pizza in New haven and legends in shelton and we don't have an accent to us but to others we do not like Rhode island and boston annoying accents
Connecticut is a boring less New Englandy version of Massachusetts. The beaches in CT are all on the Sound, so no waves. Also, there are no cool cities. Hartford, Bridgeport, and Waterbury are all small and Ghetto. I'd say CT is pretty much New Jersey, but further from the city, but no good beaches. CT does have casinos. But they are in the middle of nowhere. I lived in CT for 8 years. I say skip it. Pizza outside of New Haven isn't thar good. They don't have an accent because they are not interesting. She's basically telling you, go to Boston or NYC if you want to have a good time.
Your not saying the real truth CT has the highest rent the lowest minimum wage and they are very segregated. There is discrimination and you have to fit two races here either white or black if your spanish you cant get a good job and most employers exploit their workers. Restaurants are super expensive and drivers speed around the clock.
Sure, it has high rent, but you make at LEAST $14 per hour (higher than most states). Also, I know many people with very good jobs who are Arab and Spanish. Edit: Tipped works can be payed a minimum of $6.38. Keep in mind that people usually tip 20% when at a restaurant.
What are some other misconceptions about CT?

I think it depended on who your friends were and who you were trying to impress. Both of our friend groups didn't care much. After I graduated, I got a job in Fairfield and started hanging out with the Fairfield crowd. They were all really nice and I had met and hung out with a lot of the same people my sister already knew.
And it's unaffordable!
Thanks for warning me, I will shop elsewhere.
@janusn9 great comments. Thanks! I agree we are pretty lucky here with the weather. It could be much worse.
Whalley pizza and house st pizza in New haven and legends in shelton and we don't have an accent to us but to others we do not like Rhode island and boston annoying accents
I will need to check out those pizza places for sure. Thanks for the recommendations!
I think Ct drivers are rude, inpatient and aggressive!!They ar worse than the NY drivers.
That's because so many New Yorkers moved here since COVID buddy, it never used to be like that before the influx from New York and New Jersey
NJ is waaay better then CT
🎯🎯
If you don't like taxes Connecticut is not the place for you!
Pauls pizza in Vernon.
