  • LOST and ALONE in China's LARGEST City - This is our third time visiting China and we've been more than impressed by every city we've visited. Chongqing is one of the largest cities in China and difficult to navigate if it's your first time there. It is however one of the best places in China with unique attractions and things to do all over the city.

Chongqing got independent from Sichuan province partially because 1) rivalry with Chengdu became extensive, both are big cities with economic and historical importance, balancing policies between them within one province were difficult; 2) the three gorges dam was underway, it’s a huge project that required some high level authority to establish local laws and executive powers to manage the engineer, ecology & migration tasks. So Chongqing main city and some counties along the river valley regrouped into a municipality independent from Sichuan. This also answered your question about the electricity price, Chongqing, as well as other southwest mountainous region, has a lot of electricity from hydropower

15:43 The two animals in front of the building are the mythological Qilin (pronounced as "chilin") 麒麟, the legendary hooved chimerical creature, and they are there to guard the building, ward off all evil, and protect and bring luck to the people therein. They are kind of like the unicorns. In Japan, they are called Kirin.

fun facts about Hong Yan Cun Station:

2, line 5 opened in Nov 30 2023. at 36:57 you will see the transfer pedestrian tunnel to line 5.
3, the station concourse is in 渝中 district. the entrance of exit 4 is in 九龙坡 district. then entrance of exit 2 is in 沙坪坝区.
4, the elevator at 37:50 ends up in 渝中 district. which is 500 meters away from exit 4. that's why many people take the elevator: their destination is closer to the elevator.

The sign in the subway means ‘ don’t check your phones when you are on the escalator’ ( in case you fall or some other incidents)
