    I was at Albergue Verde by the end of May/2022. By far one of the best places I stayed in my two Caminos! I also stayed at Grañon church, a great experience! The public albergue of Burgos is the best public by far.

      You were probably a week or two ahead of me, I stayed there last June. The yoga studio is an amazing space 🤩
      Another smaller Albergue experience you might want to check out is Casa Susi, which is about 10kms outside Villa Franca Del Bierzo. 12 beds, organic food from garden and a lovely communal meal. Buen Camino

    It's not on the trail but I spent 3 nights, twice, in poblet. It was so spiritual and a great experience.
    I think the full name is the royal abbey of Saint Mary of poblet.

      That experience sounds amazing, so it not on any Camino? I see on Google maps it’s near the east coast of Spain. I shall pop it on my list of places to stay, thanks

    Very useful video, thanks. I'm starting from SJDPP on 21 June 2023 and wanted to break the uphill incline by stopping at Orisson. It's already booked so I have two options? (1) Expensive taxi back and hope to get a bed in SJDPP and another back to Orisson next day or (2) march on to Roncevalles and hope to get a bed there. People say there's no big problems after Roncevalles but looks like a stressful start to the Camino. Maybe a bivouac bag is needed or sleep in a doorway?

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! How exciting, before you know it it will be time to go. Orisson is very popular, but there is a third and a fourth option you could try. But, option 2 - You can book a bed at Roncesvalles through their website, have you thought about that or are you concerned it's too far?
      Ok, option 3) Try Auberge Borda, which is 1km past Orisson and has great reviews:
      www.gronze.com/francia/pirineos-atlanticos/albergue-borda/auberge-borda
      Just checked booking.com, seems it has availability night before and night after June 21st - www.booking.com/hotel/fr/auberge-borda.html?aid=375654&label=msn-9rgMNsURgBhgFqPEdT9VIA-80264384329154%3Atikwd-80264694232181%3Aloc-188%3Aneo%3Amte%3Alp4923%3Adec%3Aqsbooking.com%2Buk&sid=11561f9f6dfd054759576601ba0e8b02&checkin=2023-06-21;checkout=2023-06-22;dest_id=7268004;dest_type=hotel;dist=0;group_adults=1;group_children=0;hapos=1;hpos=1;no_rooms=1;req_adults=1;req_children=0;room1=A;sb_price_type=total;soh=1;sr_order=popularity;srepoch=1682368197;srpvid=682d9021ff890290;type=total;ucfs=1&#no_availability_msg
      So you could stay an extra day in St Jean, enjoy the sites and sounds and then head up to Auberge Borda the next day.
      Or, if you wanted to break the day up and not taxi back, consider trying the Valcarlos route. There are 4 accommodation options there - www.gronze.com/etapa/saint-jean-pied-port/valcarlos/roncesvalles

      If you’re walking the Camino Frances from St Jean, say during May into June or September into October, you might want to book until Pamplona. It opens up after that and you can stay ‘off stage’. There are so many lovely little towns and villages after Pamplona where you can stay after a shorter days walking

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      P. S the first day on the Frances is a big one, but can be broken up - st Jean to orrison 8/9kms, or abergue Borda 19/10kms - then you have a 18/20km day the next. Get past this and it gets much much easier

    5€ donation for a Donativo??? That is being really, really stingy and cheap for a bed and dinner and maybe breakfast. More like 20-25€. If it is just a bed, then 10€. Make it more if you can. This helps cover the costs for those who leave nothing.

    • @Caminohacks
      @Caminohacks  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A minimum of 5 euros for a bed for those who have little money, definitely more if they can afford it. If a communal meal is involved then that price should obviously increase . In my opinion no one should not be paying for a bed for the night, it's a sad state of affairs if someone thinks they can take such warm hospitality and then not give the host money to help keep the albergue running for others.
      We also need to take into account some people walking the Camino don't have much money and a lack of funds should not be a barrier to people getting to experience such a life changing trip. Hence, 5 euros for those that have little.
      Buen Camino
