- Winning the minor premiership is a huge accolade for any club. Working hard all pre season and executing those skills to an extremely high standard on gameday. For these teams, all that commitment and effort shown throughout the regular season unfortunately failed to result in a grand final victory. For this list, we will only be considering teams from 1980-2020 and we will be diving in deeper to share with you how and why these great teams just couldn’t quite get over the final hurdle and hold up the grand final trophy as premiers...

Hey mate I love your videos and they really helped me get back into the footy this year. Could you do a mini doco on the history of the NRL? Like go through the changes over the years in regards to, but not limited to: rules, salary cap, major scandals, when it was a 20 team league. Would love to learn more about the history
That Darious Boyd interception is always gonna be my favourite memory from 2015, and yes I wish that happened in the grand final.

Penrith Panthers in 2020 reminded me of Parramatta Eels in 2001, both teams gave away a big head start to the opposing team they both made a comeback but all to no avail. Both teams were the best teams all season yet they both choked in the big one!

It's always anticlimactic when the minor premiers fail to make the grand final.
The St George Dragons (1985) and the St George Illawarra Dragons (2009) are technically two different franchises, therefore they shouldn't be included together.

Disagree with 2015 being one of the great grand finals. Broncos played the most boring, negative footy you'll ever see in the second half and deserved to lose the way they did. One of the most exciting ends to a game for sure, but not a great match at all.
2009 should be a different listing and not combined with the dragons of 1985 as they are a different team being a merged entity
so basically dont win the minor premiership on differential if you want to win the comp.

Parramatta in 2001 and 2005 should be number one because I hate them so much. Let's also not forget that the Warriors only finished 1st because the Bullfilth got done for the salary cap.

But NRL should starts copying AFL they are more successful in managing their games, they have stop creating the drama of a super team.in Melbourne and they try to push one of the Queensland's team for final eight, it's a mockery and it's happening every year.
