I'll never forget the night my childhood friend invited me over, and we played both Goldeneye and Ocarina of Time on N64 all night. My mind was blown. I immediately begged my parents for the console the next day. And for the next year or so until they could afford it haha.

I was 8 years old first playing this game. And man the memories, this game not only made me a Bond fan (I didn't know Bond before at that time) but also a gamer. Thank you GoldenEye

9:50 seeing the print of N64 Magazine brought so many memories flooding back. I'd completely forgotten, but I used to buy every single issue of that magazine when I was a kid. It was published by Future Publishing in my home town of Bath, England. My friend's dad did photography for them, and I once met the editor in my local supermarket and thought he was an A-lister 😆. The magazine was brilliant, and aside from reviews had loads of funny articles and skits. I remember that magazine made me want to be a games journalist when I was a kid, but as I got a bit older, games no longer had the magic appeal to me that they had during the N64, PS1 era so I pursued other interests.

Perfect Dark was a masterpiece,t too. Strange they would split after two fantastic titles.

In fact, half the team left Rare around the time Perfect Dark was 1/3 done, so not many people from the GE team remained to see PD being completed. The people who left Rare at the time went on to make TimeSplitters, which is another game with a strong GoldenEye influence.

One of my favorite games of all time!
They changed the future with that game.

Anything involving 007 should be Secret. The fact that the multi-player mode was last minute and practically snuck in like Bond himself is unthinkable. Such a part of our youth
Edit: You just earned a new sub.

I’ll never forget seeing this game for the first time around my friends house, and immediately falling in love with it. I asked for an N64 that Christmas, which i got and then found a 2nd hand copy a couple of weeks later as the game was sold out most places. For me no game has ever had that sort of impact emotionally.

It’s the best FPS ever . Playing this as a kid in 1997 was absolute magic ! It was the golden years of gaming . I wish i could go back to the 90’s rare and Nintendo were on another level .
