I really wish you had a radio drama hour pod cast where you just read Lovecraft and other dark stories. You're voice is great to make hair stand on end.
i've got the Necronomicon, H.P. Lovecraft the Complete Fiction and the Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales, yet none of those contain this story! first time hearing it and i absolutely love it! now, i guess i have to buy some more books by lovecraft - not that i mind :)
I read the Complete works of HP over a year ago, yet don't remember this one. The Necronomicon was referred to in his stories, yet he never actually wrote a book of that title as I am aware. Others have expanded on his works, surely...
@qwer58j Harry Harrison, Robert Heinlein or Robert Silverberg, but my favourite book (actually it's a trilogy) is 'The Dancers at the End of Time' by Michael Moorcock.
I would say yes, for whatever he brewed it was ment to "banish the redness; the horrible coma called living" and he goes on to say; "And there in the worm peopled darkness shall rot the base chains that have bound me." I've always wondered if this is the view from a soul's perspective in a way.
More Lovecraft. And be assured that there is more to come.
I keep coming back to this one.

And I still do
That may be, from now on, my favorite poem of all time !
Lov'd it!
"A horrible coma called living..."
Beautiful - gave me chills. Listened twice.
One of my favourite poems by Lovecraft, sadly overlooked all too frequently.
This is a very difficult one to memorize.
edit: I used to be able to recite about half of it by heart and eventually stopped working at it.

Fantastic poem; I've never heard these poems by Lovecraft. This one sounded like Poe.
Some are really, really good, and should be better known like his fiction.

Just out of curiosity who would be yore number one favourite author? I’m just curious.
Poetry and the gods please! :)
wait does he commit suicide at the end?? 0.o
what is he brewing at the end? is it poison or just something that'll affect his dreams like in hypnos?
Probably morphine, that tends to be main drug/mixture that Lovecraft uses to reach these weird realms.
