I think you're referring to that lead line that Alan plays in the verses that sounds markedly different from the record. (1:25) The sound he uses to play that part live sounds like a bell, while on the record it's a much more subtle sound and buried in the mix. I really love the vocals in the outro too. MTV played this live performance in rotation upon the initial release. It was the first time I got to see what the band looked like. I love all the keyboards and banging on electric pads and metal bits. This was groundbreaking.
I am glad you reacted to this concert at this point, because starting on the next album you will review (SOFAD) there was a big twist on their sound, and they never came back to this! Cheers!
Sorry for being kinda off topic, but since you've liked Sea of Sin, I thought you might like a band named Renegade Soundwave. They started in 1986, but disbanded pretty quickly in 1995. They were on the same label as Depeche Mode, and DM even sampled them on their song "Rush". The members of RSW were Gary Asquith, Danny Briottet and Karl Bonnie (he unfortunately left them in 1991, so RSW became a duet). Their most known songs are "Biting My Nails", "Probably a Robbery", "The Phantom" and "Ozone Breakdown". The music they performed ranges from electronic to pop, dub and breakbeat, they made 4 albums named "Soundclash", "In Dub", "Howyoudoin'" and "The Next Chapter of Dub". They also sample a lot of music in their songs, for example their song "Deadly" features a sample of Yoda's Theme from Episode V of Star Wars. They are great and would love to see your reaction to them

I see myself as a hardcore fan and i can't say i liked it when it came out. But now I start enjoying it and the lyrics are still to day very relevant
