The ban on semiconductor exports to China 🇨🇳 is one of the most important policy moves of *the century.* - The Chinese regime has not even gasped *what hit them* yet.
Taiwanese companies & Korean companies may grow reluctant to continue this if we keep calling it a "ban". They thought they were "cooperating" against an authoritarian power, i.e. China. If you call it a "ban", they might get confused who the authoritarian power is, i.e. China or the U.S.
NO, as oppose to what Chris Miller said here Chinese chip makers are actually developing its capability at very rapid pace, sizable gap let me tell you in the whole world there is only 1 company that can produce 3nm chip and that is TSMC and where SMIC is right now it is knocking on the door of 5nm chip. The problem is not China subsidizing the chip industry but it is with the US subsidizing its chip industry with billions, for the US it will be how to make your chip industry competitive when large portion of the supply chain is in Asia, high end chips only makes a small portion of revenue for chip industry. Curbing AI chip for China won't work and they will just make their own chip and years later, they will have their own AI chip ecosystem.
oh dear...today is 10 feb 2024...you guys obviously haven't been taking notice of current advances in chinese chip progress. check for yourself...particulary smic, 5nm & huawei P60 pro smartphone. 👊🏽 even nvidia has commented on the subject.
Japan!? Chemical prowes in chip manufacturing chemical components?
Who knew.
Smart guy and good speaker Chris is.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice FANTASY ‼️🥳🤡🐒🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌
Curbing China from AI chips makes a lot of sense, *economically and morally.*
Morally. Yes. Agreed
🤣🤣🤣🤣 keep on dreaming 🥳🤡🐒🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌
