    I think you just saved my business and my Pr655i. I was never told of any of this maintainance GSUK. In fact the guy they sent with the machine knew very little about it. Thank you. I am already a member of your group, so I'll message you there.

    Thank you so much for this extremely helpful video. Like others who have posted, I have no way of getting my machine to a technician (too heavy to get down the stairs and too big to fit in a car). So I will do this to keep my machine happy. Do you have any videos on aligning the knives. I took them out to untangle a bobbin mess and now my trimmer doesn't cut the threads.

    Doug, thank you so much for this video. Very grateful that you take the time to do this.

    Having an issue with it sounding like it is "banging" alll of a sudden--I oil the rotary hook every time I use it, although after watching your video, I probably need to oil another time during my day on weekends I am running it hard. I am wondering if that sound would be a a symptom of dry felt pads--I have always oiled the bottom ones, but didnt' realize there were top ones too. will definitely take off the cover tonight and oil those as well.

    These are great videos . Thank you for making them. I have shared your channel with my PR1000 Facebook group and my PE Design digitizing group. Between the two of them they have over 7,000 members. Anything you can share about Brother products will be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you for the share I don't have the machine to make more videos otherwise i would. I made to help people maintain there own machines vs. always having to take it to a dealer. I am a Brother certified technician as well

    Thanks for posting this video! I have always taken my machine to the dealer for servicing, but they are 2 1/2 horsies away. Can I oil it at home?

    • @DougtheEmbTech

    I have the PR655 but how do i take out the cover w/o damaging it like you?

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I made another video on how to take the covers off. There is a procedure if not done properly your covers can break tabs off the plastic covers so be very careful taking off yourself

    on 3:16, how do you make the needle bars make those up/down movement?

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      yellowsunshine65 I am pushing at the top of the needle bar down and letting it spring up by itself, working the oil on the bars.

    • @yellowsunshine65
      @yellowsunshine65 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DougtheEmbTech So, it´s manually done, right? I was thinking it was a button you were pushing with the machine on. Thank you.

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yellowsunshine65 yes i am manually doing this no button feature being used.

    Hi Doug can you please help me with a step by step instruction on how to get the front cover off to enable me to do the oiling myself?

    • @reversewave
      @reversewave 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      May seem a daft question but do I need to take all the covers off to oil both the upper and lower felt pads above the needle holders?

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +reversewave you need to take the front cover off to get to the top felt pad. With cover on you can get the bottom one.

    Hey Doug. I was wondering if you can show, how to tighten the arms that hold the frames. Mine frame is almost hitting the needle plate. Thanks.

      Harry Potter Thumb screws hold the arms on just turn clock wise to tighten

    Do you have to reset a computer setting to get the machine to return to normal operation after the needle pads have become dry? My machine has been oiled and is still not stitching correctly but the symptoms are exactly what was happening this Summer when my technician oiled it and said the problems were just due to dry needle pads. Help is appreciated!

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Courtney Schultz No need to reset anything in machine. Make sure you oil the rotary hook too.

    • @yellowsunshine65
      @yellowsunshine65 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I´m having the same problem and where I live I don´t have any technicians. In fact exactly because that I was trained by my old dealer to do my own maintenance. Can you help me with the rotary hook, please? Is it the place where the bobbin goes? My machine is having 3 needles not embroidering, apparently because of the dry needle bar. It sometimes is skipping stitches and many times it is breaking the thread. I changed the thread cone to another needle and it sews fine.

    While I can appreciate trying to help people, there are reasons that brother uses different lubricants on their machine. Not all embroidery machines are like others. Most dealers will educate you on how to maintain your machine yourself, there is a lot more to a service and recommended service intervals. Trained techs will tell you the casting has to be separated at 1500 hrs and lubricated, with the correct lubricants to avoid noise, and excessive wear issues.

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am a Certified Technician and was trained by Brother but Thanks for your input. Yes there is 2 different types of grease even to use on this model but i am only oiling in the video with lilly white oil-basic oil for every embroidery machine in the industry uses this. I can separate the base and do the lower shaft and replace worn out bearings in 3 to 4hrs when most dealers take days to do this job

    Hi Can you tell me please how to reset the trip counter? I take it what you are doing here is basically servicing the machine, would you then set the hoop sizes and change needles and felts in the pre tensioner and I would say fully serviced???

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stitch n sign To trip the counter you have to go into maintenance mode. Why would you want to trip it? Only dealers do this, I know how and have done for a full service at times, depends on the customer if they want it done. Yes this video is a basic oiling points for the machine. You could do way more such as your saying setting hoops etc. Just trying to help the embroidery industry out even though this is a home base model. Most using this model are over using it as if it is a commercial machine causing way more problems then they realize.....

    What if my needle bars do not come down all the way? Some do some seem stuck (machine off)

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Morrow you don't have to pull your needle bars down all the way to get to the felt pad.

    Another great video, thank you! How often do you suggest oiling all these areas? And which oil is the best to use?

    • @DougtheEmbTech
      @DougtheEmbTech  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Melissa Denbrok It is posted in the video with wording on how often this should be done in these areas. I use a lilly white oil non staining sewing oil.
