    Dude! Africa by Toto - a yacht rock hit from 1982 - was playing on the car's radio as you showed us the interior of your 1982 Imperial...and that is *exactly* the type of music an original driver would have been listening to while cruising in one of these. Cosmic!!

    When are you going to lose your mind and get an 83?
    -They're the scarce ones, you know.

      My father had an 1981 Imperial, he bought it new, he only had the car about 6 months. Literally everything that could break on a car broke on that car. He finally got rid of it and bought a 1982 Lincoln Mark VI. What an improvement. The Lincoln was so much better in every way.

    I had an 81 with the sunroof. The fuel injection system was from International Harvestor. If you used premium fuel they were great running cars.

    Love the videos!
    Many years ago, a friend of mine kept pushing me to buy one of these if the opportunity ever came up. As a retired master Chrysler mechanic, he had a lot of stories about these imperials as well as a lot of love for them. He would just laugh at how cheap they were selling for circa 1988 because of "an easy fix" on the EFI system ... I never picked one up but still hear his words in my head and his passion for these specific imperials.
    As a sinatrafile, I'd love one of the Fs models! Maybe someday.
    Cheers and thanks again for sharing.

    Lovely cars! Still a big fan of the 1981-1983 Imperials and the 1980-1983 Cordoba/Mirada. Surprised Chrysler didn't spec the 318/4bbl California/High Altitude motor for the Imperial and work the bugs out of the EFI. The EFI on my 1985 LeBaron GTS 2.2L was flawless.

  • @Pisti846

    They should have built with a carbureted 360 and just paid the gas-guzzler tax. That way it could have been sold through all Chrysler-Plymouth dealers, better performance and might have sold better. Magnificent styling and proportions.

    • @johneckert1365

      @@johndrake2729 both are exactly the same platform from Chrysler. Cordoba, imperial and mirada. Who knows why. I suspect Chrysler was not selling many imperials so, they may have offered more dollars for that model in sponsorship but, they were rapidly leaving motor sports at that time anyway as the K cars were their bread and butter.

    Fascinating. The fuel injection sounds like it’s not something a non-mechanically inclined person could contend with. But why were the conversions only with 2 barrel carburetors? Didn’t Chrysler use four-barrel Carter Thermo-Quad and Rochester Quadrajet carburetors in police applications in the LA 318 engines? Has anybody attempted a second generation conversion? Of course now I’m starting to wonder if a 5.7L Hemi crate engine would fit under there... 🥴

    • @1941Dodge1
      @1941Dodge1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Basically it was due to epa approval of the 2bbl on the cordoba otherwise they would have had to have imperial re certified

      Chrysler never made a telescoping steering wheel. On the 1978 and older models, Chrysler licensed the telescoping wheel from GM.
